I just came from lunch and this was discussed. It is the same old, same old...the Dems' accomplishments are not known to so many American voters. Dems get great stuff done decade after decade and many, many voters have no clue.

(67,112 posts)Some of it is, of course, the media in the US. Fox blasts 7x24, for example, in so many places. Most voters I come across are clueless ... and I think many people just do not bother to research unless it hits them in the nose.

(4,616 posts)contradicts it's self. So, do the DEMS suck at messaging or are most voters clueless and don't bother to research?
I'm going with the latter. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink! Who's fault is it when the horse dies of dehydration?

texts, etc..... and of course all Dem politicians
talking about it all the time.

I don't think the Rs are any better at messaging when it comes to real and specific accomplishments or benefits to society as a whole than Democrats. Talk of "welfare queens", "lazy people living off your dime", "communists controlling your lives", and "economic catastrophe if we don't do something about the massive federal debt" is easy, effortless and plays readily into the goals of privatization, tax reductions (even though predominantly for the wealthy), and white male hegemony. And that's what the Rs are about.
How do we get Americans better informed seems a better, more basic question. One way would be to break up right-wing talk radio's near monopolistic dominance of airwaves. How do we do that? Bringing back the Fairness Doctrine would be a start.
JFK was successful in challenging tax benefits enjoyed by the local conservative radio stations that dominated America's airwaves in the 50s/early 60s. Stations dropped their right-wing talking heads in response. We probably don't have that tool today as radio stations are funded pretty much via advertising revenue. ... But there must be some things short of buying up all the stations that can be done to help remedy this. Frankly, I'm not convinced our party takes this seriously enough. Correct me if I'm wrong -- please!

and also...........................................................................most important:
YOU ARE TELLING THE TRUTH..."YOU TRUST ME MORE THAN THE MEDIA, DON'T YOU. I DON'T LIE"..
.
......................................."SAY THOSE EXACT WORDS ABOVE IN QUOTATION MARKS"
THAT IS IT, AND THAT IS ALL OF IT. IF NON- BELIEVERS DON'T BELIEVE FRIENDS AND PEOPLE THEY REALLY TRUST,
