You only need Medicare Part A&B to get the free tests.

My prescription drug plan is through my husband’s retirement health care benefits and I’ve been getting free test every month through Medicare since the program started.

The expiration date is a legal, not chemical, based value.
There is a near zero chance that chemical change rendering the test ineffective happens in the time from when mass manufacture & distribution of tests began.
There were organizations (I can't remember who now) that were accepting expired tests to use in poor & medically under-served nations.
While the FDA hasn't further extended shelf-life limits, the consensus is that it would take many years to negatively affect accuracy, as long as they were stored dry & never got too hot for too long.
I'll search for any organization accepting donations. We sent our first free tests to one but that was at least a year ago. I don't remember it.
If I find it, I'll PM you.

careful and fully vaxxed, as her husband has COPD. Morrow of the story: because one hasn't gotten it yet does not make one invincible. I haven't gotten it yet either, but have no illusions. Thanks for the warning. April has mostly gone by so fast.

I need a bunch for later this summer and I hadn't been picking any up since we still had a stash.

I'll make sure we get our 16 this month (two of us) and 16 more before the program expires next month.

Late 60's, 5 time vaccinated. I had a couple of appointments last week (Podiatrist, Chiropractor, Gastroenterologist) so who knows where I picked it up. Started feeling weak on that Saturday, tested on Sunday with an expired Roche test and it popped a faint test line. Pulse ox was down at 90, temperature up to 100. Got in to see my PCP Monday of this week and got Paxlovid and Amox-Clav.

Took a second test and it popped quicker and stronger than the initial test. Right now pulse ox is in mid 90's and temperature is at my normal. Paxlovid runs out tonight. Don't feel bad, but I'm relaxing a lot this week. Ordered and received another set of 4 test kits.

The “prescription” has been filled and is ready for pickup.

We will have about 25 boxes in our stash now. We use them frequently as H tests before going to see his mother at a nursing home and when I fly to see my mom I test before, during and after I get home.

When H got Covid last September he had to test quite frequently to see if he was negative ( He was positive for 13 days) and I tested every few days to see if I was positive. I never was.

We went through a lot of tests just in those two weeks.

H had been getting 4 free boxes a month through his insurance because he wasn’t on Medicare until this month and I’ve gotten all my free one through Medicare or the USPS. Gov when they were doing that.

When he had Covid I did have to buy some boxes because we needed so many.
