And it's not the fact that the Ad had a Transgender person in it.
Its the fact that it had Dylan Mulvaney in it, a tiktok influencer.
Horrible horrible ad and a horrible untalented person.
Thats the reason why.

We have to become more sophisticated, less manipulable. Reportedly younger people who were born into this are. Somewhat.

(4,557 posts)Because it sucks.
I've got no problem with trans spokes persons, but I do question the decision to go with this particular ad campaign. Not because of Dylan's gender identity but the general concept of marketing cheap light beer largely popular with working class men who want something they can drink by the case with a trendy, young, social media influencer. I get that they wanted to reach new markets, but that's a bit of a stretch.
Sympthsical
(10,969 posts)Their fans are mostly teenagers and younger.
So the question is - who was Bud Light trying to market to?
It's a baffling choice. I've been to many, many (many, many, many, many, many) gay bars in my life. (many). I cannot recall anyone reaching for a Bud Light or if it was even served there.
I haven't been in a few years and stopped drinking, but when I did I always just got a Lagunitas or whatever other IPA was on tap. Felt like that was what everyone drank in Bay Area gay bars for ages. Assuming they were ordering beer, which most of the time they weren't.
It's like they thought there was an untapped market of gay plumbers who also watch a lot of Tik Tok.

(19,375 posts)ignorant/unaware of them until RW idiots started freaking out about Bud Light. I avoid most major social media sites and anyone called "influencers" as much as possible.
I don't care one way or another who endorses Bud Light. I'm not buying it either way these days. I'm too old for those high school/college house parties where I often used to encounter it passively, and if I ever do buy it at a ballpark or whatever going forward that would be an issue of circumstance/limited choice rather than who is fucking advertising it.

And even had she not been trans, and just some girl on the internet, I would never understand all the hate and vitriol she gets just for existing. She has hurt nobody, and so long as that is true I will defend her like any decent person should!

(7,765 posts)That carried over to Bud Lite. I tend to not drink any lite beers anyway with the exception of Amsel Lite. Amsel must have done their homework. It tastes very good.
Oh, last week I promised to order Bud Lite they next time I was out. I broke that promise and drank a couple of Hamm's instead. At $2 for a 16 ounce can it was a bargain.
I will eventually drink an AB product though. Mic was a lot better tasting and I've had Mic Ultra when I was doing Keto.
For the record I've never seen 'the ad'.

(19,491 posts)But one thing I find a little cringy in some of her videos is how she relies a lot on female stereotypes for her humor.
I don't drink a lot of beer, but I do occasionally have a bud light chelada, it's pretty tasty. I like it better than the bud or modelo chelada. If you've never had one, it's like a bloody Mary with beer, but more garlicky.

(1,459 posts)So Bud Light commercials dont influence me in any way.
But am I the only woman that HATES that Dylan Milvaney is the becoming the face of transgenders?
Even if Bud Light never intended to make this a national promotion of their product, its become that.
To me Dylan is someone that makes a mockery of womanhood, not an example of it. They are an influencer that is a caricature of a woman, thus minimizing true transgenders.
This is not meant as an insult to anyone, just my opinion.
