Imagine for a moment that Republicans actully win their

war against all abortions and women's freedoms, their war on liberals, their war on LGBTQs, their war on books, education and thought, their war on immigrants, their war against taxes, their war on any and all who aren't white, "christian," male conservatives.

Is that a world you'd want to live in?

Actually, I don't believe that most white "Christian," male conservatives would want to live in that world either. At some point, they might realize that they no longer had any rights, and that they were owned by a small handful of super wealthy people who had bought America, who had bought the politicians they'd always voted for, and had used Fox pundits to sell them the shit they had bought their entire lives.

Some of them might even resent that Tucker Carlson was rewarded with a castle and estate perched over the Pacific. Some of them might resent that Steve Bannon was appointed "Enforcer of Public Thought." And some might even resent that Donald Trump, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and many others, had outlived their usefulness and been "disappeared."

So imagine, just for a moment, that the Republicans actually win their wars. My fear is that, in the not-to-distant future, it won't be something we will need to imagine. It will be reality. Then again, we, the vast majority, might decide to stop them.

It's really troublesome, but hopefully people wake up soon.

I guess I believe that those who don't get it now, never will. After all, far too many loved four years of Trump's reign of horror, and can't wait for him to "resume what is 'rightfully' his."

Let their "hope" never come to fruition. And may the rest of us find a way to put an end to American fascism.

Limited access to accurate information, and "God's will," are convenient ways to keep people in line, as long as there's another, less powerful group below yours to distract possible dissenters.

And I wonder about the folks who vote for the new extreme conservative agenda (although I've always wondered about anyone voting conservative/R), as opposed to the folks who advocate and fund and manipulate to get their way. And their way is insane and insufferable, opposing and denying human rights, science, history, literature; and advocating for guns, death penalties, censorship, conspiracies and retribution. The crazies are installed in our government now and that's scary. Yet throughout this assault on democracy, many states have stepped up to assert or install human rights that other states are taking away.

By the time the first group, which includes the white male conservative Christian realize they've been supporting the antichrist it will be too late. Lol I don't believe that, but seriously, they don't realize how bad (most of) their representatives are. I've called it cult 45 for years. Aside from the rabid supporters, there are many who will just go along and vote the party line, except maybe some won't vote for certain candidates.

There are countless red counties who keep electing their representatives. I've wondered, along with many here, how these folks can get elected or reelected over the years. The voters drank the Kool aid, got brainwashed, and keep voting party line? The good news is we've got the young voters, and the GOPQ is shrinking a bit, and there are more unaffiliated voters who won't vote for conservative candidates if they're too rabid. Still, there are many red states with governors who act like feudal lords, more and more lately, since the pandemic. And the people elect and reelect them.....

So I can see a future where there are fiefdoms and the territories, regions and states, with varying degrees of democratic process. Constitutions are being rewritten in many states to give the governor or people more or less power, depending on the governor's party in relation to the dominant party in the state. Disney is a fiefdom, maybe Mara Lago in the feudal territory that is Florida. I've lived in the south for 20 years, after 40+ years in NYC, where I was born and raised, and it always felt like a world unto itself. Red states will have their rules to control and maintain power, as will Blue states to represent and maintain democracy. Some cities in red regions will shrink, some may become autonomous fiefdoms with their own rules or exemptions.

There are states where the citizens are controlled and not represented. Will folks move or vote them out? That remains to be seen. Our congress is a joke these days, due to a handful or gaggle of representatives. Perhaps voters will mobilize with so many issues at stake. I often feel I should leave the south, move back north to a safe blue haven. I don't like the direction things are moving here, but for now I stay and fight the good fight. It's not a world I'd want to live in.

I've thought about your question before. I ask myself what are they thinking? I tell myself they're brainwashed. But it leads me to my answer, it depends who's in charge, country, state, city. Crooks and crazies abound at the moment in too many places. And that's scary, but it also gives me hope that the majority of people will speak out, pay attention, and vote.

Serena Joy, Offred's Commander's Wife, was one of the leading voices in the drive to turn the US into Gilead.

And...then she found out the restrictions levied on women in Gilead applied to her too, and she got really depressed about it all.

What these guys do not realize is that private gun ownership is absolutely incompatible with the society they claim to want.
