General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsThese are NOT normal times. When casual Democrats,
or any others bring up Bidens age and/or who else do
I think should run and/or oppose Biden.
Heres my drill.
The primary process will give us our nominee.
I will vote for whom ever the Democrat is on the ballot.
With Biden its ageism. Im not going to argue with anyone about should he or someone else.
Its up to the primary voters.
To engage anyone who is not a loyal Democrat and and loyal voter is to be baited and engage in voter suppression.
I learned my very tragic lesson during the 2016 presidential, when every discussion about our Democratic nominee fell short.
Voter suppression is very real and very ugly and happens as much on the ground as it does in the SOS offices across the country.

(26,083 posts)is if Biden is too old to do the job, then so is the front-runner for the Republican nomination. The Orange Anus turns 77 in a couple of months, and he lives on a diet of Big Macs and KFC.

(71,518 posts)if this happens. And such a person will never be forgiven. We don't need to have our candidate beaten up in a primary...I suggest those who think it is a good idea read up on the second term election of Jimmy Carter. Sure Ted Kennedy survived and became a great Senator in Massachusetts because of who he was...family connections and all But, I knew someone who worked for him during his later career and she said it was one of his biggest regrets. The second one was the failure to get health care when could have done so way earlier.

I mean of course for a major political figure who has considerable gravitas, not the no-chance-at-all candidates like Marianne Willianson or others who have yet to emerge.
It would be a reprise of Ted Kennedy primarying Jimmy Carter and that didn't work out well at all.
I don't foresee that happening. Three candidates with the stature to pose a substantial challenge to Pres. Biden are California Gov. Gavin Newsom, VP Kamala Harris (she won't for obvious reasons) and Gov Gretchen Whitmer or Michigan and they won't in 2024 as they are relatively young and will wait until at least 2028, that is if Joe does go all the way through with a 2024 re-election run.
If he doesn't, it would be historic and all bets would then be off.
