Why do the Republicans have a say, a veto really, on Democrats in committees?

I am referring to them preventing replacing Feinstein in the Judiciary Committee. Has this always been like that? Have we ever done the same to them?

While the conservative right wing a55hats continue their bullish behaviors while taking control of the country.

We need to fight back And if that means borrowing tricks from their playbook, then we should.

IMO, Democrats do not ever need to go as low as they usually do, but we need to stop always going up higher in response. IOW, we need to quit laying down and respond to their actions in a “civilized but similar” way.

I loved the response of billboards and truck signs advertising/publicizing GOP negatives during 2020. We didn’t make up lies and fake news like the GOP did, but we also actually responded in a very visible manner as responses in news stories don’t cut it. Maggots don’t watch real news. But they do drive, and those that can actually read saw the message….

6. I also think we should fight back as strong as possible, but we can't abandon our principles

And I think we can do that, we don’t engage in the kind of slander they do.

And IMO, I think the DMC needs to hire republican consultants…

I loved all the anti-trump and antiGOP tv ads that were on social media and played in targeted geographical areas put out by the Lincoln project and others. They were hard hitting, to the point, and not a lie mistruth in them. And I think they would have been much more effective with big money behind them, allowing maximum saturation - both regionally and nationally. It takes a huge amount of time and money to counteract the “establishment” that is the status quo in GOP dominated areas. And the only was to do that is to change the narrative…. With investments, resources, and hard hitting messages

And I think just as one needs to fight fire with fire, we should fight with a55hats with a55hats. Current or former doesn’t matter as much as one who knows how they think and react.

2. Normally, committee assignments are voted on en masse at the beginning of a congress

By unanimous consent/voice vote, along with the rules for that congress.

If that process was sabotaged, then nobody in the senate would be seated on a committee, no rules would be adopted, no business could be conducted, and , IIRC, no paychecks would be issued.

4. Committee assignments fall under general Senate rules which require 60 votes to change

Republicans, like usual, are playing hardball so they are refusing to agree to the temporary replacement. They seem open to a replacement due to a resignation because that potentially would affect them as well.

has never been done. They are right, it hasn’t. There is a procedure for replacing a senator who is unable to complete their term.
