Top 10 Conservative Idiots #14-13: There’s A Rocket In My Pocket Edition

Welcome back to the Top 10 Conservative Idiots! Yooooooooooooo! What’s up, Denver? It’s great to be back in Colorado. We made it out of France alive, and we are good to go! Can you believe that we only have 4 more Top 10s left in season 14? Damn time flies doesn’t it? But anyway we have some big things being planned for season 15 and we can’t wait to reveal them to you. Which we will do during one of our themed Best Of editions that will air during our time off in June. But as for the future of the Top 10 after season 15? Well we’re working on it. I honestly don’t know what we can say will happen beyond season 15, but we will keep you posted! And next week we’re in San Francisco for SF Sketch Fest! It has been a while since we have been there and we can’t wait to go back for more! Do we have time for the thing? Of course we do! Anyway, is everyone watching the right wing melt down over a Budweiser commercial? Yeah we’ve been reporting this the last couple of weeks, but it’s getting to be quite ridiculous. We have a whole segment on “anti-woke” products for you later on in this edition, I might add! But the videos of people doing things to Budweiser cans is truly the stuff of insanity. I particularly like the multiple videos I’ve seen of people shooting cans and destroying the Budweiser cans that they already purchased. Yeah like in this vide, I count at least 10 ways this person could have shot herself, and I don’t even own a gun! Shit, I don’t know anything about the world of firearms, other than what we report on, and I know that you shouldn’t aim like that. So tired of dealing with stupid people! And the Budweiser boycott is getting insane. Anyone else find it ironic that these are the same people who scream about cancel culture in one breath, but in the next they are actively trying to cancel something because they don’t agree with it? Thank you Denver! OK I’m rambling again. That’s enough of the intro, we have a lot of idiocy to get to. But first John Oliver is back and he delves into the collapse of the cryptocurrency market:

So where do we begin this week? In the number one slot this week, we have some breaking news and we can’t wait to tell you about it! It of course concerns the Dominion lawsuit against Fox (1), but did we think that it would result in the demise of the hottest show on that network? Hell no! In the second slot this week is our old buddy Elon Musk (2). Yes, the Tesla and Space X CEO launched another rocket into space that crashed within 5 minutes. But wait until you find out how much our government is subsidizing Space X! in the number 3 slot this week, is the reigning king of Florida Men, Ron DeSantis (3). So we’ve figured out there may be a method to his madness. His latest scheme involves some really horrible and grossly unpopular legislation surround how many votes are needed in order to administer the death penalty. But then he goes on conservative talk shows when nobody likes his ideas. Hmmm… sensing a pattern here. in the number 4 slot this week is the Fox News MAGA GQP Christian Taliban (4). The House passed a draconian bill that brings internet social media conspiracy theories to life with a flat out ban on trans athletes in sports, but as we've seen, it's not about sports or keeping women safe. And these laws will do far more harm than good! In the number 5 slot this week, you know, we’ve largely avoided discussing the controversy surrounding Alec Baldwin and the “Rust” tragedy (5) but now that nightmare is behind us, the gloves are coming off! In the number 6 slot this week is of course our weekly visit to the Holy Church Of The Top 10 in “Holy Shit” (6) and this week, we found out that Missouri passed a bill that would allow guns in churches. But they’re not the only state where this is being proposed, and we also found what might be the NRA’s dream scenario. Yeah we’re not letting you get away that easily! In the number 7 slot this week is a new Beating A Dead Horse (7) and after MAGA went berserk over Budwesier’s ad campaign with trans model / activist Dylan Mulvaney, we uncovered a whole slew of MAGA “anti-woke” products, and dear god, just make it stop already! In the number 8 slot this week is a new edition of our semi-weekly foray into the world of tin foil hat nuttery with Conspiracy Corner (8), and this week we have to talk about some of the batshit insanity unfolding on Lindell TV, mainly with a strange contest promising $5 million to prove his insane election theories – that he didn’t pay! Shocker, I know! In the number 9 (NEIN!!) slot this week, we have a new edition of “I Need A Drink”! So this week, you know the Terminator series has us all dreading the day that artificial intelligence becomes self aware and it will lead to the destruction of humanity? Well, that day may finally be here, at least in the music world because AI has been wreaking havoc on the music industry with everything from The Weeknd to Oasis to Joe Rogan being brought under the spell of AI. Yeah, we might be replaced too! Finally this week, it’s time for Stupidest State 2023 (10)! This week it’s Round 2 Week 3 which means that it’s the Batshit Conference Finals! Florida. Arizona. One of these two states will advance to the Final Four, the other goes home! Plus to cap things off, we have some live music from legendary bluesman Joe Bonamassa! Buy his new album “Tales Of Time” or you’re no friend of this program! Enjoy! And as always don’t forget the key!

Fox News

[br]
[br]

This was seriously a banner week for conservative idiocy. Hell, we had ideas for entries that couldn’t even make the Top 10 this week and we’re going to have to save them for when we come back after our week off next week. Like Trump’s ridiculous NFT collection – phase 2! I mean look at it – this picture of him as Elvis cost $100. And you’ll make it back… In fake crypto money. But the biggest loser of all of them this week in particular has to be Fox News. Yes, last week, we reported that the “We Report, You Decide” network is in what some might call, to use technical terms, “some deep doo doo”. Yes, after their reporters cost them nearly $1 billion dollars in fines as a result of the Dominion lawsuit over the 2020 election results, the hits just keep coming. And the Smartmatic suit hasn’t even begun yet! But now come the layoffs and firings. And only in the conservative MAGA world can the concept of failing upward be a thing. Hell, Trump failed upward so much that people wanted him to be president. Just… ugh. Well, anyway Fox News is finally paying the price for their lies.

Reporting on breaking news that Dominion Voting Systems had settled its landmark defamation lawsuit against Fox News, Howard Kurtz said some of the claims his own network aired about the 2020 presidential election were “obviously false.”

Kurtz joined fellow Fox News anchor Neil Cavuto on “Your World” on Tuesday to cover the news. After reading the right-wing network’s statement on the matter, noting that the statement acknowledged Fox News had broadcast false claims about Dominion, Kurtz explained that the case centered on the false claims that Dominion’s voting machines were rigged.

“Former President Trump and his allies made this case on Fox and elsewhere, that somehow they were stealing votes from Donald Trump and flipping them for Joe Biden. That’s obviously false. Those were conspiracy theories,” he said.

“But the case would have revolved around whether Fox had done due diligence, whether it was reckless, whether it was simply reporting, as the network contends, on an extremely newsworthy matter argued by the then-president of the United States himself.”

Uh oh! Someone at Fox has an independent thought! Better sound the alarm, the cult doesn’t like that, not one bit! But you know the old saying – play stupid games, win stupid prizes! Well, because of their repeated lies about the results of the 2020 election, Fox has begun “the purge”. Jeannie Pirro got fired, Maria Baritromo got fired. Several Fox producers got fired. And then on Monday – the big one finally happened. That’s right – the guy everyone loves to hate, with one facial expression, our man Tucker Carlson, finally got fired. Yeah WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! We got him, everybody! Does that mean we can finally get rid of the Tucker reaction cam? No, we don’t need it! really!

Right-wing prime-time host Tucker Carlson is leaving Fox News immediately, the cable network announced Monday.

The announcement came days after Fox News’ parent company settled Dominion Voting Systems’ defamation lawsuit for $787.5 million. The company’s hosts were not required to talk about the lawsuit, or make an apology for it, as part of the settlement, CNBC previously reported.

“FOX News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways,” the company said in a statement Monday. “We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor.”

There will be no send-off for Carlson, as his last program aired Friday. Carlson had signed off Friday saying he would be back Monday. Carlson’s program, “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” has long been one of Fox’s top rated programs..
https://www.cnbc.com/2023/04/24/tucker-carlson-leaves-fox-news-in-wake-of-dominion-defamation-settlement.html

Oh come on, stop it! We don’t need the Tucker reaction camera anymore! Well, I got to say that the sheer meltdown coming from the MAGAs has been quite spectacular to watch. I’ve always said that if there’s one group of people who could put Fox News out of business, it’s their own fanbase. Fox of course is the glue that holds the GOP together. GOP representatives can’t stop going on their programming. Like Ron Desantis and Marjorie Greene. But the speculation as to why Tucker Carlson got fired has been rampant and there is a metric fuck ton of misinformation out there. The truth is a bit more disturbing.

Tucker was already pissing off Fox management between his conspiracy-laden coverage of the Jan. 6 Capitol riots, including the repeated and baseless targeting of Trump supporter Ray Epps as being an FBI agent who instigated the insurrection; a looming lawsuit from his former producer Abby Grossberg alleging a sexist work environment; and his disparaging remarks about Fox brass in documents made public.

But most egregious, and what loomed large in his termination, people familiar with the matter told Confider, was how during his deposition with Dominion lawyers, when he was asked if “this wasn’t the only time you referred to Sidney Powell as a cunt,” the Fox News star responded: “You know I-I-I can’t know and I just want to apologize preemptively. I mean you’re trying to embarrass me, you’re definitely succeeding as I am embarrassed.”

Carlson being nailed in court documents for his repeated use of the overtly misogynist c-word was a key factor in his demise, as Fox News had rid itself of Roger Ailes and Bill O’Reilly after years of sexual-harassment complaints and could not have its biggest star undermining any supposed progress.

Carlson, who was given no reason for his termination, was stunned by the development, people familiar with the situation told Confider. He told staffers who inquired: “I have no idea what’s going on.” Neither Carlson nor Fox News responded to requests for comment.

Yeah, so maybe, I don’t know, use the C word repeatedly when you talk about your boss behind closed doors? Just throwing that out there. And by the way, we’re not the only ones who are cheering hard at Tucker’s departure from Fox. It’s insane to think that this firing has split the internet right down the middle. There’s people like Kari Lake who were saying that God needs Tucker’s voice, while others like MAGA preacher Shane Vaughn said that firing Tucker is an attack on God. Holy shit, slow down the hyperbole there. And no, we don’t need the Tucker reaction cam. But you know who’s cheering the departure of Carlson the most? The military. That’s right. The US military is glad he’s gone! But for now, Tucker, we bid you adieu!

From maternity flight suits to diversity policies to Ukraine aid, the military was a favorite punching bag for Tucker Carlson. Now that he’s off the air, some Pentagon officials are quietly cheering his departure.

Carlson’s criticism of Biden-era personnel policies appealed to many of the rank-and-file, which has a large bloc of conservative members. But at the upper levels of the Defense Department, news of Carlson’s firing from Fox News on Monday was met with delight and outright glee in some corners.

“We’re a better country without him bagging on our military every night in front of hundreds of thousands of people,” said one senior DoD official, who like others interviewed for this story was granted anonymity to discuss a politically sensitive topic.

“Good riddance,” said a second DoD official.

Elon Musk

[br]
[br]

You know, I think that we need to hold an intervention for our old buddy Elon Musk. Yeah know him as the CEO of Tesla, Space X, and the guy who took over Twitter the same way that Ultron took over Jarvis in Avengers: Age Of Ultron. And is basically destroying the platform as we know it in the process. But this isn’t about that. This is about that company that’s attempting to privatize space travel and exploration, Space X. So remember a long time ago we talked about when Space X launched that Tesla roadster into space as a publicity stunt (see: Idiots #4-15 ). Well it seems in the 4 years since then, things at Space X have taken a completely ridiculous turn in the exact opposite direction of where they were going in 2018. And it’s all because the guy who is the head boss of Space X has the humor of a 12 year old. Yeah , isn’t it great to see that one of the richest men on the planet has the humor of someone who’s just figuring out what 420 means? That’s like comedy 101. I mean come on, someone needs to put down the bong and back away from the computer very slowly. And I’m sure there’s no coincidence that the rocket is 69 meters tall and spells 420 on purpose. I mean can it? But this is one of those things that just has me shaking my damn head. It really makes me wonder why anyone still works for him.

Just seconds after Elon Musk’s SpaceX launched the first test flight of its biggest and most powerful rocket yet, the craft started tumbling uncontrollably and exploded, leaving a dramatic cloud in the sky.

The failed rocket launch shrouded cars and homes miles away in a layer of dust.

“Getting reports from multiple people now of ‘particulates’ raining down in areas of Port Isabel after the nearby explosion of the SpaceX rocket stack Starship/Superheavy,” NPR reporter Pablo de la Rosa tweeted.

The city of Port Isabel said the dust was sand and soil from near the Space X launch site “lofted into the air by the force of lift-off.”

An elementary school official in Port Isabel tweeted images of ash-covered cars in the city.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!! Yes, there’s a rocket in my pocket. And I can also picture Elon as a Dr. Seuss character too! But yes, Elon’s latest disaster just goes to prove that Space X isn’t quite ready for prime time. And this is absolutely disaster capitalism at its’ finest. I mean come on, aren’t you glad you saw how well Elon’s handling Tesla, or Twitter, and now we can add Space X to the mix. And I love Elon’s response to this whole thing – “It’s not good.”. Well fucking duh!!!! Of course it ain’t good! Someone died and there’s tons of debris raining down everywhere like it’s the end of the movie Independence Day. Yeah, remember when Randy Quaid only played characters like that? And now I guess Elon kind of is a character like that.

An explosion on the launch pad during a test of a massive SpaceX rocket prototype was “actually not good” and the company is assessing the damage, company CEO Elon Musk said on Twitter.

The rocket, an early version of the vehicle SpaceX is calling Starship, could be seen lighting its engines as it remained anchored to its South Texas launch pad in footage captured Monday by NASA Spaceflight, a media outlet with no relation to the space agency. Then, a blaze of uncontrolled flames erupted from the engines, followed by plumes of gray smoke. After the smoke cleared, no visible signs of external damage could be seen from NASA Spaceflight’s livestream.

Musk has long described Starship as the linchpin for SpaceX’s stated goal of getting the first humans to Mars. He’s talked about the vehicle for years, and laid out SpaceX’s evolving plans for its design through several public speaking engagements over the past decade.

Last year, SpaceX also won a $3 billion NASA contract to use Starship for the space agency’s plans to return astronauts to the surface of the moon for the first time in five decades.
https://www.cnn.com/2022/07/12/tech/spacex-starship-test-boca-chica-scn/index.html

Yeah would you really trust Space X to send you to the moon? I mean, it wouldn’t be too far out of the current reality to picture Elon sending someone like Homer Simpson into space. Maybe they could send me! I mean I’m just the host of a comedy news program. But you know, this is one of those classic cause and effect things that we always talk about on this show. You might be wondering why Elon chose to launch the rocket on 4/20. Which we say… why not? It’s Elon, does he really have any rhyme or reason as to anything he does lately? I don’t know what brand of weed Elon’s smoking, but he’s got to be smoking some pretty powerful shit.

The repeatedly rescheduled maiden orbital flight of Starship, a SpaceX rocket designed to fly humans to Mars one day, just got a new date. SpaceX CEO Elon Musk is now targeting late April, and hinted his preference would be April 20, to launch the historic mission on 4/20, the unofficial holiday dedicated to smoking marijuana.

“SpaceX will be ready to launch Starship in a few weeks,” Musk tweeted yesterday (March 16), adding that the exact date will depend on when the Federal Aviation Administration will issue the flight license for the mission. “Assuming that takes a few weeks, first launch attempt will be near end of third week of April, aka…” Musk said in the tweet, alluding to April 20, which is the third Thursday of April.

The orbital flight of Starship will be a test mission flying a fully-stacked Starship rocket to 100 miles in the sky for the first time. If successful, Starship will be the largest rocket developed by a private company to ever reach Earth’s orbit and prove its viability for many space missions. SpaceX has been preparing for this test for several years, with smaller prototypes and test flights to lower altitudes.

There is only a roughly 50 percent chance of Starship reaching orbital altitude on its first attempt, Musk said at a Morgan Stanley conference in San Francisco on March 7. SpaceX’s near-term goal is to use Starship for regular cargo and crew missions, replacing the Falcon 9 rocket.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Great movie! And Elon’s love of weed combined with his love of right wing conspiracy theories may be costing him big time. Gee, you think maybe it’s a bad idea to hang around neo Nazis? Of course it is. It must be nice to have and generate so much money that you can lose $12 billion like you’re losing the change that’s left in your car’s center console. Seriously, think about it – this little stunt cost him $12 billion dollars. I will repeat that. 12 billion dollars. Come on, when you can lose $12 billion dollars just like that, you deserve to be taxed. It’s way past time to end the free ride for the Jeff Bezos, Richard Bransons, and Elon Musks of the world.

Elon Musk’s coffers became a smidge lighter on Thursday after his net worth plummeted by $12.6 billion, according to Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index, the biggest drop in Musk’s wealth so far this year. That fall comes on the heels of a fairly tumultuous 24 hours for SpaceX, Tesla, and Twitter, three of the largest businesses under Musk’s leadership.

Tesla published disappointing first quarter results on Thursday morning, reporting an almost 20 percent decline in the company’s gross margins. The EV manufacturer has made several aggressive price cuts to its vehicle lineup in recent months, a move that increased sales despite the struggling EV market but ultimately resulted in a hit to its overall profit margins. Tesla’s share price fell by 9.8 percent to $162.99 by the time markets closed on Thursday. Musk’s 13 percent stake in Tesla makes up the largest share of his (now) $163.9 billion net worth.

On the same day, SpaceX’s integrated Starship spacecraft experienced a “rapid unscheduled disassembly” over the Gulf of Mexico — which is just a fancy way of saying it exploded — four minutes into its first test flight. Starship had successfully cleared the launchpad before it started to spin uncontrollably and then burst into a ball of flames before stage separation. Musk has a 42 percent stake in SpaceX and is planning to attempt another Starship test flight in “a few months.”

Ron DeSantis [br] [br]

Boy, the reigning king of Florida Men, Ron DeSantis (Q – Batshit) really seems hell bent on taking a flame thrower to what’s left of Florida, doesn’t he? And it’s all because of this whole “anti-woke” crusade that the GOP has been going on since MAGA lost the 2020 election. It’s no secret that the Fox News MAGA GQP Taliban loves them some death. They can’t get enough of it. I mean come on, this is a party that wanted to murder half of Congress and their own sitting vice president. So guess what they naturally want for the Sunshine State. They want to lower the minimum requirements for a jury to vote on whether or not to administer the death penalty. That’s right. Don’t boo just yet. But because of this, a whole lot of people are going to die. And they’re not just going to die, they’re going to be executed, and probably without appeal either. This is one of the most shocking, stunning pieces of pure evil that one of the most evil governors in the country has passed.

Gov. Ron DeSantis signed into law a bill that makes it easier to get death penalty decisions in Florida.

With the swipe of a pen, DeSantis made Florida the state with the lowest death penalty threshold in the country.

The governor's office said parents of the victims of the Parkland shooting joined DeSantis as he signed SB 450.

“I’m proud to sign legislation that will prevent families from having to endure what the Parkland families have and ensure proper justice will be served in the state of Florida," DeSantis said in a press release.

The move comes months after a Broward County jury rejected the death penalty for the man who killed 17 people at Parkland's Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in 2018.

Florida's law required a unanimous jury decision, and three jurors wanted the life sentence over the death penalty, sparking outcry among those — including the governor, as well as many lawmakers and victims' family members — who felt the shooter got off too easy.
https://www.tallahassee.com/story/news/politics/2023/04/20/desantis-gives-florida-lowest-death-penalty-threshold/70134550007/

Yeah this is pure, unaltered fucking evil. The fact that any jury could enact the death penalty regardless of whether or not they have the votes is basically just going pure Nazi at this point. And the nerve to frame it around the Parkland shooting, one of the most horrible mass shootings in America since Columbine, is just more proof of how low the GOP will sink. There’s no bottom for them. They don’t have that light that goes off that says “HEY! This might be a bad fucking idea!”. Imagine what this could do if this guy gets in the White House. Holy shit.

Florida could soon be the only state where a judge could override a jury’s recommendation for a life sentence and give the death penalty instead, under proposed legislation to recraft Florida’s capital punishment system.

In identical bills filed by Rep. Berny Jacques, R-Seminole, and Sen. Blaise Ingoglia, R-Spring Hill, the legislation proposes that “notwithstanding the recommendation of the jury,” the court can “enter a sentence of life imprisonment or death.”

The language is nearly identical to Florida’s previous statute, which allowed judicial override until 2016, when the Legislature reworked the statute following a U.S. Supreme Court ruling that said judges had too much power, instead of juries, when it came to the death penalty.

Along with opening the door for judicial override again, the bill proposes doing away with requiring unanimous jury verdicts for a death penalty sentence, lowering the threshold to an 8-4 majority.
https://www.yahoo.com/news/florida-bill-let-judges-override-194900985.html

Yeah hooooooooooooooooooooooly shit. Basically this means that a judge could override the jury and recommend the death penalty himself. He’d literally be judge, jury, and executioner in this case. This is a stunning, unprecedented level of evil here. So who can we expect to die under this new piece of legislation that was just passed? Well, there it is folks! 301 editions and that’s the single most morbid question we’ve ever asked! Huzzahs are in order! Well let’s consider this case out of the town of Hillsborough. Where the main suspect in a murder is on trial and the implications could mean the death penalty. Now under a 8 – 4 jury or a judge’s override, that could pretty much mean instant death. OMG I just about spit out my coffee with that one!

In one of her first acts in office, newly appointed Hillsborough State Attorney Susan Lopez reversed a decision by the man she replaced, former top prosecutor Andrew Warren, and will seek the death penalty against the suspect in a killing of a Hillsborough elementary school teacher.

Prosecutors will seek a death sentence for Matthew Terry, who is charged with first-degree murder in the slaying of Kay Baker. The third grade math and science teacher at Cypress Creek Elementary in Ruskin was stabbed to death near her home. Terry, who was her boyfriend at the time, was previously convicted in 2017 of stabbing his ex-girlfriend in Michigan.

Florida court rules require prosecutors to file a notice of intent to seek the death penalty within 45 days of a defendant’s arraignment. Terry was arraigned June 21, which made Friday the deadline. Prosecutors filed their death penalty notice that day.

The decision was one of the first moves by Lopez, who was appointed the day before to take over for Warren, the elected state attorney who was ousted by Gov. Ron DeSantis.

DeSantis said he booted Warren from office because the then-state attorney had pledged not to enforce new abortion legislation and because local police complained that he was soft on crime.
https://www.yahoo.com/news/hillsborough-state-attorney-reverses-andrew-200600630.html

Oh no! You’re in Texas! I think Florida may have just now beat Texas as the most death penalty friendly state in the country! The GOP is just so hell bent on taking us so damn backwards that it’s really, truly, seriously scary. People have fought and died against some of the insane laws that the GOP is currently proposing. And if you think they’re not stopping at non-unanimous juries, oh no my friends. They are going all the way. And you know that the Supreme Court is now stacked 6 – 3 in favor of the Fox News MAGA GQP Fundamentalist Christian Taliban, you know they’ll approve this case with a unanimous vote, because, Jesus… I guess? Sigh… SMDH. These people are truly off their rocker.

Despite long-standing Supreme Court precedent directing that the proposal is unconstitutional, Florida legislators this month are seeking to broaden the death penalty to non-homicide crimes. The proposal has Gov. Ron DeSantis’s full support. On Tuesday, the Florida Senate Rules Committee is expected to vote on the bill, which is the bill’s last committee stop before the floor.

Specifically, the bills seek to broaden the death penalty to sexual battery crimes against children. The bills plainly contradict the court’s 2008 decision in Kennedy v. Louisiana, which held that punishing a defendant with death when the crime does not intentionally cause the victim’s death violates the Eighth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

The Supreme Court of just 15 years ago clearly forbade what Florida is now trying to do. Florida legislators say “that’s the point.” Their goal is to provide the Supreme Court with the opportunity to review Kennedy, at which point both Gov. DeSantis and Florida legislators are confident the court, “in its current iteration,” would overturn Kennedy. Emphasizing the perceived ideological changes on the court since 2008, state Sen. Jonathan Martin (the Senate bill’s sponsor), argued that Justice Samuel Alito’s dissenting opinion in Kennedy—joined by Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas—opened the door to this legislation. In light of Justice Alito’s dissent and the current court’s “ideological framework,” Sen. Martin believes that the “new” court would “be in favor” of this legislation. Similarly, state Rep. Jessica Baker (the House bill’s sponsor) said she “welcome[s]” a constitutional challenge and is “hopeful” the court would “recede” from its “improperly decided” opinion in Kennedy.

The Fox News MAGA GQP Christian Taliban

[br]
[br]

We’ve been talking a lot lately about the right wing’s increasingly evil and flat out draconian war on trans people based on baseless internet conspiracy theories. And even worse is their non stop obsession with trans people (mostly male to female) playing in sports. They cannot stop talking about it. I personally blame Fox News and Tucker Carlson for giving that Libsoftiktok psychopath a platform to spew bile and garbage. But there’s definitely more to it than that. But see this is exactly why we say elections matter. And it doesn’t matter what level of election either. Doesn’t matter if it’s the House of Representatives, the Senate, the mayor, the governor, or even your local school board. When you don’t vote for these offices, they win. But this is what happens when the cult wins – they don’t do anything but pass baseless internet conspiracy nonsense. And this is why I say thank god that the Democrats control the senate and the White House, because this horrible, and extremely Nazi-esque piece of legislation isn’t going anywhere, and will basically exist to provide cannon fodder for the cult in future elections. Sigh… I can’t even.

House Republicans passed first-of-its-kind federal legislation on Thursday to ban transgender athletes from competing on school sports teams with women and girls -- a political messaging priority for the GOP despite the bill having no chance of passing the Senate and facing a presidential veto threat.

Outside the Capitol, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy lauded the "Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act" after the bill passed by a 219-203 vote along party lines.

"This is a great day for America, and a great day for girls and women, and for fairness in sports," McCarthy said. "House Republicans pledged before the last election or commitment to American women and girls in sports. Today we kept that," he added.

The bill would change Title IX's definition of sex to one "based solely on a person's reproductive biology and genetics at birth." Rep. Greg Steube, R-Fla., introduced the legislation in February after it failed to pass out of committee during the last two sessions of Congress, when Democrats controlled the House.

What? No! This isn’t a great day for America. It’s a fucking embarrassing day for America! This legislation is pure hatred formed in the darkest corners of the internet. Pieces of shit like Alex Jones and that libsoftiktok psychopath and Marjorie Shit For Brains are the ones that brought this craziness on us. This is an absolute fuck you to all trans people and that’s about it. Just… good god, this House is an absolute embarrassment. This wasn’t a victory for America or women in sports. This was a victory for the Fox News MAGA GQP Christian Taliban conspiracy theory bullshit peddlers, and that’s about it. Well, the House isn’t the only place where this Nazi bullshit is happening either. Kansas and North Carolina also proposed similar bills.

Kansas is banning transgender athletes from girls’ and women’s sports from kindergarten through college, the first of several possible new laws restricting the rights of transgender people pushed through by Republican legislators over the wishes of the Democratic governor.

The Legislature on Wednesday overrode Gov. Laura Kelly’s third veto in three years of a bill to ban transgender athletes, and came a day after state lawmakers passed a broad bathroom bill. Nineteen other states have imposed restrictions on transgender athletes, most recently Wyoming.

The Kansas law takes effect July 1 and is among several hundred proposals that Republican lawmakers across the U.S. have pursued this year to push back on LGBTQ rights. Kansas lawmakers who back the ban are also pursuing proposals to end gender-affirming care for minors and restrict restroom use.

The measure approved by Kansas lawmakers Tuesday would prevent transgender people from using public restrooms, locker rooms and other facilities associated with their gender identities, and bars them from changing their name or gender on their driver’s licenses. Kelly is expected to veto that.

Yeah BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! This just gets worse the more you dig into it, and I don’t see it getting better any time soon. As long as the propaganda is out there, the hate will continue and it will get worse before it gets any better. And it seems to get more evil depending on which state you live in. Take a look at this legislation being passed in Texas that could effectively end all gender affirming care, for all adults, not just kids. This is the insane thing, they’re using children as a scapegoat to distract the real evil that they plan to enact on this country. The GOP has gone so far off the deep end that they’re currently circulating the bottom of the Marianus Trench!

Transgender Texans of all ages could have their access to transition-related medical treatments severely limited — or effectively ended — under a bill the Texas Senate preliminary approved Tuesday.

Senate Bill 1029 would make physicians and health insurers financially liable for their patients’ lifetime medical, mental health and pharmaceutical costs resulting from complications of gender-affirming medical care even if the providers lack fault or criminal intent. The bill exempts such treatments for kids with “medically verifiable genetic sex disorders.”

According to health groups, the bill would make it highly unlikely for health care providers offering these treatments to be able to get medical liability coverage, leaving them personally on the hook for potential medical, legal and other costs. These financial risks could deter physicians from providing puberty blockers, hormone therapies and gender-affirming surgeries to trans people of all ages in the state.

The Senate voted 18-12 Tuesday to give the bill initial approval. It now awaits another vote before it can move to the House.

Yeah seriously, where are those guys when you need them? The good news is that people are starting to fight back against the damage that the Fox News MAGA GQP Christian Taliban is doing to this country over baseless internet conspiracy theories. Even Joe Biden has proposed bills that would stop some of these policies from being enacted. But check out what’s happening in Nebraska where Gov. Pillen accidentally got some people with independent thoughts on his show. Can’t have that. The cult doesn’t like that. The damage may have been done, but it can be reversed. We’ve got a long way to go before that happens.

Two callers to Gov. Jim Pillen’s radio call-in show Monday asked the Republican governor about his support for a controversial measure that would ban gender-affirming care for minors.

One caller, Jerry from Fort Calhoun, noted that the governor said earlier in the program said that he wanted the Legislature to focus on fewer bills and “high value” measures that impact the entire state.

“How many people does this really affect?” Jerry asked of Legislative Bill 574.

Pillen responded that he feels that one thing all Nebraskans can agree with is that “kids are our future, and we can’t give up on one kid … we need to protect our kids. …”

“One kid makes a big difference,” Pillen said. “So the transgender bill, from my seat, is very, very simple. It’s important that children can decide when they get to the adequate age.”

Later, another caller, Steve in Lincoln, questioned why Pillen is OK with allowing an “18-year-old or younger” to handle an AK or AR (a reference to semi-automatic “assault rifles” such as an AK-47 or AR-15) or to “go to war.”

The governor responded: “I don’t think they can handle an AK,” adding that to get a pistol in Nebraska you must be 21.

Alec Baldwin Rust Trial
[br]
[br]

Before we go any further, I want to preface by saying that it’s been a long standing Top 10 policy that we don’t make fun of people or events that are too horrifying to make fun of. Which is why we’ve largely avoided talking about the debacle surrounding the 2021 shooting on the set of the Alec Baldwin western flick “Rust”. Regardless of how you feel about Alec Baldwin as a person, we can all agree that no one should have go through the kind of hate and harassment that he did. Nearly all of it came from Fox News, social media trolls, and MAGA conspiracy theory podcasts. And it was all because he played Trump on Saturday Night Live. You know, Saturday Night Live has made fun of presidents and current events since its’ inception. Whether it was Will Ferrell as George Bush, or Dan Akroyd as Richard Nixon, or Darrell Hammond as Jimmy Carter, the list goes on. Hell, even Dennis Miller played George Washington in a sketch. What? Too soon? That was, until our 45th president came along, a guy who has an ego more fragile than an arctic ice shelf. But this isn’t about him. And now that the trial has finally reached a verdict, and we’re happy to report that it’s a not guilty one, the kid gloves are coming off! Yeah so here’s what happened.

In October 2021, a woman died on the set of the western Rust after a prop gun Alec Baldwin was holding accidentally discharged in the course of rehearsing a scene. The victim, Halyna Hutchins, was the cinematographer on the movie, which was filming at Bonanza Creek Ranch, in Santa Fe County, New Mexico. Hutchins was taken to the hospital by helicopter immediately following the shooting and was pronounced dead after her arrival. Director Joel Souza sustained injuries as well and was hospitalized.

Despite the fact that Baldwin — who was listed as one of the film’s producers — is now suing the Rust armorer and other members of the crew, the show will go on. As part of a settlement between Hutchins’s estate and the production, Souza, Baldwin, and Hutchins’s widower, Matthew Hutchins, agreed that production on Rust would resume in 2023. “Though certainly bittersweet, I am pleased that together, we will now complete what Halyna and I started,” Souza said in a statement. Filming started back up on April 20, in a new location with a new cinematographer onboard.

Meanwhile, three months after the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office completed its investigation, district prosecutors charged Baldwin and the movie’s prop armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, with two counts each of involuntary manslaughter; in late April, they dropped the charges against Baldwin. Nonetheless, he faces multiple civil suits brought by Hutchins’s parents and sister and by crew members. Here’s everything we know about the shooting and its fallout.
https://www.thecut.com/2022/08/alec-baldwin-prop-gun-accident-fatal-shooting-on-rust-set.html

Yeah wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!! Seriously, we feel bad for Alec because it’s been what might be the 18 months of his entire life. Well this may have escalated because one of the conspiracy theories that was being spread among right wing social media circles was that he used an “enhanced gun”. Which, there’s no such thing. At least what we’re aware of. But this entire incident was, what one might call a “clusterfuck”. And the more you dig into this story, the weirder it gets. It seems like there was a conspiracy on the set of Rust and Alec Baldwin may have not been the only target.

Prosecutors said Thursday they knew “pretty close to the beginning” of their probe into the fatal shooting of “Rust” cinematographer Halyna Hutchins that criminal charges would be filed.

First Judicial District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies and special prosecutor Andrea Reeb said they are confident they will win convictions in their case against Alec Baldwin and “Rust” armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed for their alleged roles in the death of Hutchins, 42, on Oct. 21, 2021.

“We felt very confident that it was going to be a criminal case pretty close to the beginning, once we started looking at everything," Reeb said.

"I'm sure he was confident he wasn't going to get charged. But he isn't above the law and he is somebody who committed a crime, and we're going to hold him to the law, hold him accountable," she said of Baldwin.
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/prosecutors-say-knew-early-probe-fatal-rust-shooting-lead-charges-rcna66575

And by the way, remember that thing that we said about “gun enhancement charges” being 100% bullshit? Well guess what? They are! Even the prosecutor admits this. Which makes us believe that the charges against Mr. Baldwin were more than a mere shooting charge. It was a political hit job and a conspiracy. The thing is the MAGAs were out to get Alec Baldwin for his comic portrayal of that guy who we inexplicably used to call president. Like we said earlier in this piece, Saturday Night Live has consistently made fun of US presidents both past and present. Except for one, because he doesn’t understand the concept of satire and couldn’t take a joke.

A New Mexico prosecutor admitted that it was "100 percent" wrong to hit Alec Baldwin with a gun enhancement charge that carried a five-year potential prison sentence in the "Rust" movie set shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, emails show.

Baldwin's defense attorneys on Tuesday withdrew their motion challenging the firearm enhancement as "unconstitutional" after it was officially dropped by New Mexico First Judicial District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies.

The court filing contains emails from the special prosecutor appointed by the DA to the case, Andrea Reeb.

In a February 12 email to Baldwin's lawyers, Reeb wrote: "We are a tad confused on your motion on the firearm enhancement," according to the court documents.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime/emails-show-the-prosecutor-in-the-rust-shooting-privately-admitted-it-was-100-percent-wrong-to-upgrade-charges-against-alec-baldwin/ar-AA17OsHY

Oh and speaking of a good idea that went horribly wrong, remember when the GOP brought in a special prosecutor to see that Baldwin went to jail? Well, even he dropped out of the trial after learning that it was pure, grade A bullshit. And we’re not at all surprised that this was a not guilty verdict. Because there’s no mistake that it was a political hit job, and you can’t keep a MAGA from interfering with something and doing something stupid. But yeah, I’m sure just like Alec, we’re all glad that we can put this ugly chapter behind us and move on. And it really proved just how dangerous the right wing conspiracy theory podcast sphere can be.

The Alec Baldwin "Rust" film set shooting case somehow keeps getting more embarrassing for New Mexico prosecutors. The latest? One of them withdrew from the case.

This comes after state authorities last month dropped the gun-charge enhancement that carried the most potential prison time for Baldwin. The actor's defense lawyers pointed out that the enhancement couldn't be used in this case because it was enacted after the alleged crime (whoops).

And now, special prosecutor Andrea Reeb is off the closely watched involuntary manslaughter case. Along with film armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, Baldwin was charged in January in connection with the 2021 shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. (Baldwin has pleaded not guilty; a lawyer for Gutierrez-Reed said she plans to do the same.)

Like the dropping of the gun enhancement, this latest move follows an argument raised by Baldwin's defense team. His lawyers claimed that Reeb, a Republican state legislator, violated the separation of powers by serving as both a law enforcer and a lawmaker. “The legal question is not a close

Holy Shit: Guns In Church
[br]
[br]

Gather around my fair brothers and sisters! It’s time to take a seat in the pew and pass the collection plate, for the Holy Church Of The Top 10 has convened and it’s time to remind you that the holiest among us are the most full of:

My fair congregation! Please be seated! You know, I knew that it was only a matter of time before the Christian right started combining their favorite vices. Their two biggest vices of course are church and guns. Now if they could find some way to add making babies to that mix, that would be the ultimate unholy trinity. Oh yeah there was that. Churches have been traditionally gun free zones since the 1700s. But not in the 2020s. Let’s give everyone guns and have no rules to enforce them. What could possibly go wrong? Well, everything could possibly go wrong. Because these are people who are not in their right minds. These are people who do not worship GAWD or JAYSUS. They worship the unholy, ungodly Dark One! I of course speak of a man so foul, so depraved and disgusting that his name *DARE NOT* be spoken in my church! Well, it was brought to my attention recently the first such law being proposed in Missouri that would allow guns in church. Yeah what could possibly go wrong there?

People would be allowed to bring guns into places of worship if they have a concealed carry permit under a bill proposed by a Missouri Republican.

The bill, sponsored by Rep. Ben Baker, a Neosho Republican, was heard by the House Emerging Issues Committee Wednesday, and would strike down the current rule prohibiting concealed guns in places of worship without the permission of the religious leader of the congregation.

Baker said pastors urged him to file the legislation because they do not want to be the person to determine who can carry guns in places of worship.

“It can put them in a really bad position to say yes to some, and then others be upset. So it’s just they don’t want to be involved,” Baker said. “As long as people have had the training to have the CCW, they don’t care.”
https://www.kansascity.com/news/politics-government/article273467865.html

Yeah so Missouri wants to allow guns in church. But they aren’t the only ones, either! And don’t think that anyone is safe, either! Because if you think you’re safe from gun laws, you’re not! Oh no, my fair congregation! Let’s take a look at New York, where they actually had a ban on guns in church for years and years… up until last year. When a judge who was appointed by the unholy Dark One, overturned the law. Because, you know, shall not be infringed. Yes, society could end this if we want to, but half of the country refuses to listen to the other half, and it’s making things that much worse.

New York state's new gun reforms took effect on Thursday with new requirements for permit applications and restrictions on areas where concealed weapons cannot be carried.

With the changes an interesting question popped up for some groups that are now categorized as a "sensitive location." That is, houses of worship.

It's hard to comprehend or accept but you may recall that places of worship have also been hit with violence. From the 2015 South Carolina church shooting where Black congregants in a Bible study program were killed, to the 2017 Pittsburgh synagogue shooting, and then other church shootings in Texas and elsewhere.

In one particular case in Texas in 2020, a church member actually rose and pulled his concealed weapon and killed the shooter, who started shooting during a service. The church member was later cleared by authorities.

This is the problem with guns. Is that the GOP wants everyone to have guns, and no rules to enforce use of them. So what could possibly go wrong? Well, we will get to that in a minute. But like we said, nowhere in the country is safe from these lunatics who worship the unholy Dark One. In fact they seem bent on taking us backwards. See, look, their GAWD is the Dark One, but their false idol is the firearm, and they worship the hell out of the firearm. And the redder and more rural your state is, the more likely you are to combine your favorite vices. That’s exactly what the MAGA Q Taliban are doing in these states and more.

A Second Amendment bill in the North Carolina State Senate has progressed through the chamber and is now headed to the State House of Representatives. The North Carolina Senate voted 29-19 across party lines on Senate Bill 41, which would repeal the state’s pistol purchase permit law on Thursday.

The bill would also allow carrying of firearms in places of worship properties that have schools as well, but it’s not going to allow guns on school property at any time.

Since 1995, anyone attending a place of worship (churches, synagogues, temples, mosques) that is legally allowed to carry a firearm could do so on that property --- as long as the property owner allows it.

Things change when a place of worship also serves as a school.

Senate Bill 41 would clarify the language of state law and allow the same right to carry a firearm on a church property even if they operate a school --- but there are exceptions.
https://www.wect.com/2023/02/17/bill-aimed-repealing-pistol-purchase-permit-also-hopes-expand-rights-carry-guns-church/

Now you might be wondering “why churches”? Well, I answer you, good sir or madam with another question – why not? The 2nd amendment is the reason why this country can’t have nice things, and the NRA is taking this country so far backwards, undoing years and years of progress. For what? Some kind of wild west scenario? Yeah that’s exactly what they want. In fact, we found out the NRA’s dream scenario in which a “good guy with a gun” actually stops a “bad guy with a gun”. But you know what the commonality in all of this is? The gun. Which is why, once again, we can’t have nice things.

A Missouri pastor likely saved his own church members from a potentially dangerous situation — while continuing with the service the entire time.

Pastor Marquaello Futrell of Ferguson was leading Sunday service at All Creation Northview Holiness Family Church in February when he noticed four young men come in and sit down toward the back of the church. He could tell they had guns in their waistbands.

One of the men had two bags. What they planned to do, the pastor still doesn’t know, but at that moment he kicked into action.

Without the gunmen knowing, Futrell got his audio-visual team to move the camera to capture their faces on the church’s livestream. He quietly alerted the church director to get the children to safety.

Futrell told local news outlet KDSK that he used his instincts as a former St. Louis police officer to start questioning the men, and calling them out.

Yeah that pretty much sums it up! “Pride goeth before destruction”, and these are a people who seem like they’re OK with offing themselves in a fiery blaze of glory! We don’t see this getting better any time soon and will probably get worse. Enjoy the showdown at the holy OK Corral, folks! Mass has ended, may you go in peace! That’s it this week for:

Beating A Dead Horse: Anti-Woke Products
[br]
[br]

Can I just say it already? This shit is getting fucking old. It seems like there’s a new conservative temper tantrum over advertising every single week. First it was the NFL. Then it was Keurigs. Then it was Oreos. Then it was M&Ms. Oh yeah, Tucker Carlson may not work at Fox anymore, but we’re not letting him see the end of that clip. Then it was Budwesier. Now it’s Jack Daniels. What’s left? Do they just sit and stare at blank walls and drink tap water and eat stale bread? That’s no way to live. So now how are conservatives responding to advertising that doesn’t cater directly to straight white alpha males and females? Easy, they’re starting their own companies, with their own products with blackjack and hookers. On second thought, forget about the products. In fact there’s even a whole anti-woke alternative to Amazon being proposed, complete with every thing from anti-woke toothpaste to anti-woke diapers. Yes, apparently super creepy Q lunatics are going after Pampers now. But this whole thing is truly the stuff of insanity.

Online marketplace Public Square is set to merge with Omeed Malik's blank check company Colombier Acquisition Group in a $200 million deal as the company launches a full-throttle campaign to give every 'anti-woke' consumer an Amazon-like alternative.

The San Diego-based company launched nationwide seven months ago and now hosts nearly 50,000 'patriotic' vendors and has processed millions of transactions.

It's now drawn in conservative heavyweights like Donald Trump Jr., who serves as an investor and an adviser, and former Arizona Senate candidate Blake Masters, who is an advisor.

'People need to stop giving their money to businesses that hate them. We aren't going to defeat woke corporations by whining on Twitter,' Trump Jr. told DailyMail.com.

A final deal could be announced as soon as today, a source familiar confirmed to DailyMail.com.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11799491/The-anti-woke-patriotic-marketplace-set-public-200-million-deal.html

Yeah that’s the future if this kind of thing starts getting traction. But is it really? I mean outside of idiots on Fox News, do you see anyone actually destroying their products? Yeah people talk a lot of shit that they actually think they’re going to put a dent into a multi-billion dollar, multi-international company that makes several billion on their quarterly profits, but you might make a small fraction of a dent in them. But the thing is, it’s all about dollar, dollar bills y’all. Like people talk shit about destroying Budweiser and affiliated products, but at the end of the day, they’ll still kick back and enjoy a nice tall beer. Don’t tell them that 3 companies control like 200 different brands!

The maker of an "anti-woke" alternative to Bud Light is being called out online over the high price of his product, which—including the cost of shipping—comes out to more than four times the price of one of America's best-selling beers.

Following conservative backlash against Bud Light's parent company Anheuser-Busch's partnership with a transgender influencer, Seth Weathers—a Georgia-based political consultant and apparel company CEO who led President Donald Trump's 2016 campaign in the state—announced he would begin selling a "100% woke-free beer" as a bulwark to "woke corporations."

The video went viral, amassing 2.2 million views in 24 hours and prompting what Weathers described to Newsweek as "thousands" of pre-orders of Conservative Dad's Ultra Right ahead of the product's formal launch next month.

A handful of replies were positive, with people saying they were excited to buy the brew or asking questions about its calorie content. Online, however, the feedback was largely negative or mocking as the beer became a trending topic on Twitter.

For some, what was more attention-grabbing than the advertisement was the price of the brew itself: $20 for a pack of six beers. And that's before shipping—a necessity for customers due to the fact they could not yet legally sell the product in stores. The beer also has a lower alcohol content (4.0 percent) than a can of Bud Light.
https://www.newsweek.com/anti-woke-beer-costs-four-times-more-bud-light-1794319

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! But hey, those beers ain’t free! In fact the hilarious thing about the current conservative MAGA buzzword is that if you go woke, you go broke. Actually it’s more the opposite, if you go anti-woke, you go broke! Because here’s the thing – Budweiser is cheap. You can get a 36 pack of Budweiser at your local Costco for $36. If you buy a six pack of this new anti-woke beer, it will cost you… $35. Yes, that’s right - $35 for a beer that’s probably worse than Budweiser! Which would be great if they could actually get a producer to manufacture this beer. Yeah it seems like this isn’t a popular idea. Which means either this guy’s a con artist or a troll. We’re hoping troll.

An anti-“woke” beer company is having a tough time finding a brewing company to actually produce it for them.

The idea for Ultra Right Beer was conjured up by Seth Weathers in the wake of Conservatives boycotting Bud Light for partnering with trans activist Dylan Mulvaney.

Never seemingly passing up the opportunity to make money from a scandal, the right jumped on the chance to buy a “woke free” beer, however, the creator is now finding it hard to find somewhere to actually make it.

The beer’s website claimed it was “brewed and canned by Bent River Brewing Co.”, but the brewery claims its name was used without permission after they were approached.

Mike Zoller, the Chicago Beer Editor for PorchDrinking.com, said Weathers asked the Illinois-based Bent River Brewing Company to brew the beer for them. They allege Weathers also used their name without permission on his website.
https://www.indy100.com/news/ultra-right-beer-brewery-struggle

Oh that Homer! Well, here’s the other thing that the MAGAs don’t seem to get about their 10,000,000,000 boycotts – it doesn’t quite work if you buy their products. Yeah, we get that these videos are mad e with the idea of getting likes from other conservatives and attempting to rile up the other side. But here’s the other thing that MAGAs don’t seem to get about their 10,000,000,000 boycotts – we’re not “triggered”. In fact, we’re actually laughing at you because of how utterly ridiculous you look. So while you’re getting your underwear in a wad over yet another stupid commercial that nobody else seems to care about, the executives are the ones laughing all the way to the bank and playing you for the chumps that you are.

“Get woke, go broke,” has become a rallying cry of the political right whenever they see a brand make the slightest effort to align itself with liberal or progressive values. It’s a meme that allows MAGA country to believe that there is ongoing, massive backlash to products that acknowledge and celebrate marginalized communities. But the supposed boycotts never seem to be reflected in the bottom line.

Besides, by the time we would expect to notice any effect, conservatives have already moved on to the next outrage. Kid Rock and Travis Tritt declared war this week against brewer Anheuser-Busch for a Bud Light partnership with trans actor Dylan Mulvaney, yet the focus has already shifted to the whiskey Jack Daniel’s because of its ad campaign featuring drag queens — which happens to be from 2021.

With all the companies these grievance peddlers are busy trying to destroy, it’s none too surprising that some have slipped through the cracks. Though the U.S. economy is facing headwinds and earnings may be down across the board for the first fiscal quarter of 2023, there’s ample evidence that major brands tend to easily weather anti-woke furor. Here’s an accounting of several that right-wingers vowed to ruin, and how they’re faring in the aftermath:

Welcome back to our segment that attempts to explain the unexplainable, Conspiracy Corner! Of course conspiracies exist when people simply don’t want to read the article past the headlines and just flat out make shit up. We of course are coming to you live from our underground doomsday shelter from deep within the New Mexico badlands. Undisclosed location, of course! Let me just adjust my trusty tin foil hat for maximum government interference. Ah, there we go! They are trying to read yours and my thoughts after all! Well, folks, unless you’re holed up in a basement bunker like me and have been spending way too much time watching Lindell TV, you’re missing out on some of the best comedy on the internet. Because the thing is, you know that old saying about how you can’t teach a old dog new tricks, right? Well, how about teaching a dog to lie and lie and lie about whether or not someone actually won an election or not? Well, what happened is Lindell TV made a contest where people could submit proof of election claims, and then didn’t pay the winner. I’m shocked, SHOCKED! Well, not that shocked.

My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell has been ordered to shell out $5 million to an expert who debunked his data related to the 2020 election, according to a decision by the arbitration panel obtained by CNN.

Lindell, a purveyor of election conspiracies, vowed to award the multimillion-dollar sum to any cyber security expert who could disprove his data. An arbitration panel awarded Robert Zeidman, who has decades in software development experience, a $5 million payout on Wednesday after he sued Lindell over the sum.

CNN has obtained arbitration documents and video depositions, including a deposition of Lindell, related to the dispute.

“Based on the foregoing analysis, Mr. Zeidman performed under the contract,” the arbitration panel wrote in its decision. “He proved the data Lindell LLC provided, and represented reflected information from the November 2020 election, unequivocally did not reflect November 2020 election data. Failure to pay Mr. Zeidman the $5 million prized was a breach of the contract, entitling him to recover.”

That is a good question, we still don’t know the answer! But seriously, you got to wonder who in their right mind would take this shit seriously? But if you delve into recent history, this isn’t the first time Mike Lindell has shot his mouth off and got himself in trouble. In fact, he has a long, very long history of doing this. And all they do is sue people. Like it’s insane how many lawsuits the right wing has filed in the last 2 years, and most of them go nowhere. It’s just designed to get a rise out of people, and that’s about it. It’s got to suck being a judge these days, having to deal with these idiots on a constant, daily basis. Yeah there’s more.

Pillow peddler Mike Lindell is furious with Fox and said he is suing Speaker Kevin McCarthy for giving Tucker Carlson exclusive access to Jan. 6 Capitol footage and leaving him out. "They're serving papers this morning," the spurned Lindell TV conspiracist said yesterday on Steve Bannon's War Room podcast. "It [J6 footage] needs to go to everybody so we can all look at it together!" (See video below, posted by Patriot Takes.)

He also announced his intention to sue on the "Lindell Report."

"Lindell TV is going after Kevin McCarthy in Congress, we're going after them, because they did it wrong," he said, according to Newsweek.

"Fox is going to be the filter to the world?" Lindell asked. "Not gonna happen on my watch, I'll tell you that."

https://boingboing.net/2023/02/23/mike-lindell-says-he-is-suing-speaker-kevin-mccarthy-for-giving-fox-the-j6-footage-and-not-him.html

But here’s the thing – Fox is, like it or not, a legitimate media outlet. Lindell TV is a social media conspiracy theory website. Yeah, can you imagine where the republican party would be without the frivolous lawsuit? Oh my god, yeah it would be like that! And we still have to wonder who it is that actually watches this shit 24 hours a day. And we’re not counting left wing bloggers who get paid to monitor right wing content and talking points. But imagine how fucked up it would be if you had that many lawsuits going that you have your lawyers on speed dial. Yeah… think about it! But the right wing, the only thing they know is the frivolous lawsuit, and this is from a group that claims to hate trial lawyers.

A video of MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell being cut off by his attorney as he discussed his legal battles has gone viral on social media.

The clip has been watched more than 375,000 times since being posted on Twitter on Tuesday by commentator Ron Filipkowski.

Lindell was "cut off mid-sentence by his attorney, who strongly advised him to stop talking immediately," Filipkowski wrote in the caption.

The clip comes from the latest episode of his show The Lindell Report, in which he discussed his legal battle with Dominion Voting Systems.

The Donald Trump supporter has repeatedly claimed, without evidence, that the 2020 presidential election was rigged and the voting machines were to blame.

In October the U.S. Supreme Court rejected Lindell's bid to dodge the $1.3 billion defamation lawsuit filed against him by Dominion.

Imagine how fucked up it is when you’re about to say something stupid and get cut off by your attorney mid-sentence! But here’s the thing – Mikey just can’t help himself saying something stupid. Watching Lindell TV is like watching a train wreck – you don’t want to stare, but at the same time, you can’t look away either. It’s like that scene from the Simpsons where the entire nuclear plant is watching Homer, just anticipating that he’s going to say or do something stupid. But I have to say that it is fun watching the GOP turn on each other, and we’re here for every minute of the circular firing squad. Come on now, ready! Aim! Pull!

MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell has enjoyed the loyal support of MAGA world and conservative circles over the past two years as he’s pushed to overturn the 2020 election results.

But, in recent days, conservative pundits have begun turning on the pillow maven over a new conspiracy theory that involves auditing Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis’ 2022 victory in Florida.

Specifically, right-wing blowback against Lindell began emerging after he announced his plans to audit DeSantis’ victory in Miami-Dade County.

“I don’t believe it,” Lindell said on his Frank Speech website Tuesday evening regarding DeSantis’ ten-plus point triumph. “So it’s just going to show everybody— just like we always tell you about Democrats where they stole their elections...I’m going to find out if Dade County—what happened there.”

Lindell TV co-host Brannon Howse added: “Because that was historical, normally Republicans don’t win that county.”

I Need A Drink
[br]
[br]

Hey everyone, I don’t know about you, but I could really use a drink!

So of course you know by now, the idea of this segment is that we have some drinks and while we are drinking we talk about literally anything in the news as long as it doesn’t relate to politics. Because mixing booze and political discussions *NEVER* ends well. And hey, my sober brothers and sisters, we got you covered too. Just grab your favorite coffee or Monster and get wired with us! Well, this week, we have to talk about artificial intelligence. Because, if The Terminator has taught us anything, you know that the day will come when AI becomes self aware and that’s the end of humanity as we know it. Well, this week, we have to talk about AI in music. Tell me bartender, what goes well with a song about AI music? An AI cocktail? What’s in that? That sounds like a drink generated by Chat GPT. Eh, I’ll just take my usual Jack Daniels mixed with Jack Daniels. I call it “the Double Jack”. Or maybe Jack Squared. But anyway, AI is reaching new extremes daily. Everyone from the Weeknd to Oasis has been the subject of AI bots recreating their music. But lately there’s a viral song going around the internet that claims to be by Drake and The Weeknd that has music producers around the world just a bit nervous about what could be the end result of AI meddling in music.

Music fans responded with disbelief this week to the release on streaming and social media platforms of the viral song "Heart on My Sleeve."

The hosts of the popular music-related YouTube channel LawTWINZ were among the many who weighed in, discussing whether the track, which uses artificial intelligence to simulate the music of pop stars Drake and The Weeknd, even surpasses the real pop stars' talents.

Advances in AI have gotten to the point where the technology can quickly create new songs like "Heart on My Sleeve" that sound like they're the work of real artists.

Recent examples, which include a faux song that sounds a lot like something the British alt-rock band Oasis would put out, hint at AI's bold, creative possibilities and its ethical and legal limitations.

Now, artists, lawyers and other industry players are trying to figure out how the technology can be used responsibly.

The popularity and revenue-earning potential of AI-generated songs have understandably put music industry gatekeepers on guard.
https://www.npr.org/2023/04/21/1171032649/ai-music-heart-on-my-sleeve-drake-the-weeknd

I don’t think that wine glass is big enough! Holy shit, that is insane. This is what the Terminator was warning us about – artificial intelligence will eventually become self aware, and when it does, it’s the end of humanity. Skynet, people! And by the way, this experiment was designed to see if a hit song could be generated by AI. And in the amount of time it took to get a million hits, it was pulled from all of the major streaming services. Seriously, here’s how realistic the song is – it fooled even actual hip hop producers like Meek Mill. So if actual hip hop producers could be fooled, what hope is there for the rest of us?

Meek Mill has offered his thoughts on an AI-generated track designed to sound like a Drake and The Weeknd collaboration titled “Heart on My Sleeve.”

“A.I. generated song Drake ft. The Weeknd – heart on my sleeve,” he wrote alongside a YouTube link of the divisive viral song, which is credited to someone named Ghostwriter. “This is my 5th time banging this and it’s flame… We need new music from y’all 2.”

Meek’s comments come after the song went viral amid growing criticism of AI usage in music. The original uploader of the track claimed they were “a ghostwriter for years and got paid close to nothing just for major labels to profit.” The song was available on Spotify and other streaming services for a short while but has since been removed.

As TMZ reported, “Heart on My Sleeve” has opened the floodgates in terms of AI music. Two more AI-assisted fake Drake songs have surfaced online in the past few days and started to circulate on YouTube and TikTok. One is titled “Winters Cold,” while the other is called “Not a Game.” While it’s easy enough to discern that these aren’t, in fact, real Drake songs, these fake tracks will likely remain a major concern for both artists and their respective labels.
https://www.complex.com/music/meek-mill-ai-drake-weeknd-song

Now you might be asking “yeah, you can use AI to fake a hip hop song, but how is this going to translate to rock music?”. Well… guess what? We got you covered there, too. Because apparently someone was feeding an AI generator songs by Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher – you know them as the dueling brothers of the iconic British rock group Oasis, and asked them to generate an entire fucking album of AI generated Oasis songs. Now come on! They’re just fucking with us at this point. I mean what’s next – a new Rage Against The Machine album? Come on, System Of A Down hasn’t released a new album since 2005. How do we know that new Taylor Swift music isn’t being generated by AI? Come on, you don’t know! I guess that the sky’s the limit, here?

The era of AI music is upon us. Over the weekend, a song featuring AI-generated vocals from Drake and the Weeknd went viral and then was pulled from streaming services by Universal Music Group, who condemned the track as “infringing content created with generative AI.” New Drake AI songs are already popping up, and that’s only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to music created by artificial intelligence.

This past week, a project known as AISIS made the rounds online. It was billed as “an alternate reality concept album where the band’s 95-97 line-up continued to write music, or perhaps all got together years later to write a record akin to the first 3 albums, and only now has the master DAT tape from that session surfaced.”

The Lost Tapes / Vol. 1 was not completely generated by AI — its instrumentation and lyrics were created by a UK band called Breezer, who make music that sounds a bit like Oasis, but they used generative AI to mimic the voice of Liam Gallagher to make these sound like real long-lost Oasis songs.

In an interview with The Guardian, Breezer leader Bobby Geraghty talked about the process behind making AI songs: “AI is still very much controlled by the user. You need to feed it exactly what it needs to replicate,” he said. “I don’t think it’s at the point where AI could write a song. Although, having said that, a lot of people have asked if the music was AI generated, which it’s not.”
https://www.stereogum.com/2220920/oasis-ai-album-liam-gallagher/news/

So now that begs the question – who gets paid in the world of AI music? It seems that the cat has been let out of the bag. This experiment has taught us that even if artificial intelligence becomes self aware, that means that we need to be even more self aware. Because this could be used for some serious evil as well as wreaking havoc on the entire industry. Someone, somewhere is going to go too far, and someone is going to get hurt as a result. But in the event that happens, we need to be ready for it, and make sure that the right people get the credit.

An AI-voiced rap song replicating the voices of the artists Drake and The Weeknd that went viral on Sunday had been taken down from streaming services as of Tuesday morning.

The song, “heart on my sleeve,” was created by an anonymous musician who goes by ghostwriter. “Heart on my sleeve” features vocals that sound like Drake and The Weeknd as well as Metro Boomin’s signature producer tag. Clips of the song went viral on social media, with one Twitter upload of the song garnering 6.9 million views.

In a now-deleted TikTok video, ghostwriter explained that AI was used to create the song but did not disclose what program was used. In a comment under the video, ghostwriter said that they wrote the song, then replaced their voice with Drake’s. Typically, a person can make an AI song like this by writing and recording a track, then use an AI model to replace their vocals with a popular artist’s voice.

Stupidest State 2022
[br]
[br]

16 states will enter and only one state will become the new Top 10 Conservative Idiots Stupidest State!

Wow folks, can you believe we’re almost done with Round 2? And I don’t mean to tell you that last week was an absolute nail biter! It went into double overtime with the score tied at 75 between Missouri and Montana. But then this happened: Oh my god! Missouri has the ball! For three! YES! Now a foul has been called. First one in – it’s good! Second one – YES! And that will do it folks, Missouri has won the Gun Nut Conference! Final score: 81 – 75! This week, it’s the Batshit Conference Finals! We have juggernaut Florida, ranked the best team during the regular season, going up against red hot Arizona for the title! We’re live at the home of the Washington Capitols, the Capitol One Arena in Washington, DC for all the exciting action! Let’s go to the floor, shall we?

Batshit Conference Finals: Florida Vs Arizona

Florida

The Sunshine State needs no credentials as to why they are one of the most popular states in our annual contest. But under governor Ron DeSantis, they seem to have reached unprecedented new heights of conservative idiocy. And that’s really what this is all about, isn’t it? In fact if Florida does indeed become the 2023 Stupidest State, we may have to rename our trophy. Because they’re that fucking stupid. In fact we may have found the origins of creepy clowns and where everyone’s fear of clowns may have come from – you guessed it! The Sunshine State! And why are we not at all surprised? Well this is one of the reasons why Florida will always remain crazy.

A clown came to Marlene Warren’s door on a May morning in 1990, handed her carnations and balloons and then shot her dead in front of her son. On Tuesday, her husband’s second wife finally pleaded guilty to being the killer, closing a case that is strange even by Florida standards.

Sheila Keen-Warren, 59, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in a deal that will likely see her released from prison in no more than two years. Long suspected of being the shooter, Keen-Warren has been jailed awaiting trial for first-degree murder since 2017, when Palm Beach County sheriff’s investigators said improvements in DNA technology proved that a hair found in the clown’s getaway car came from her. Keen-Warren has insisted, however, that she is not the killer.

Palm Beach County State Attorney Dave Aronberg said in a statement that the plea deal “obtained a measure of justice” for Marlene Warren and her son. No public notice was given for Tuesday’s plea hearing in West Palm Beach, which otherwise would have drawn a throng of reporters and spectators. Instead, it was handled quietly during Circuit Judge Scott Suskauer’s lunch break from another murder trial.

Yeah you wonder why people are afraid of clowns or answering their doors. But murderous clowns aside, there’s plenty of reasons why Florida keeps reaching the top of the Batshit Conference year after year. Like take for instance the sheer insanity surrounding the right wing’s boycott of Budweiser over their partnership with transgender Tik Tok influencer Dylan Mulvaney. It’s the stuff of sheer insanity and the fact that the right wing keeps painting themselves as the victim just shows how far off the deep end they’ve really gone. Well, take for instance the owner of a restaurant in Orland called “Grills” who has said that this has been the hardest two weeks of their life. Excuse me while I go find the world’s tiniest violin.

After more than a week of prayer, Joe Penovich made what he said was a difficult decision. On Friday, the owner of Grills Seafood Deck & Tiki Bar locations at Port Canaveral, Melbourne and Orlando removed Bud Light from his restaurants.

"I have to do what I believe God is telling me to do," he said Monday morning.

The decision came in response to transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney posting an Instagram video of herself drinking Bud Light, talking about the beer's March Madness contest and showing off a Bud Light can with her face on it. The can was sent to Mulvaney, who has been documenting her journey to become a woman on TikTok, to celebrate the 365-day milestone of her transition. It was never available to the public.

Now Penovich is defending his decision, his restaurants and his staff after a Friday evening Facebook post in a Rockledge community group by Brian Loeffel, who said he watched as Bud Light at Grills at the port was thrown in the trash and a the bar manager made offensive comment about gay people. That post, which Penovich said was not true, triggered an outpouring of disgust, anger — and support — on social media from members of Brevard's LGBTQ community.

Oh fuck off! God’s will is not your bigotry. There aren’t enough facepalms for that one. You might be wondering why we’re not talking much about Ron DeSantis. Well, there’s plenty of that going around right now, and we’ve covered him elsewhere. He’s giving us plenty of material, believe me. Well, this might be the most Florida story to end all Florida stories. A judge in Florida denied a teenage girl access to an abortion because – wait for it – she had bad grades. And now this guy is a nominee for Florida’s top court. Seriously, what the hell is wrong with that state?

A Florida judge rejected by voters after denying a teenage girl an abortion citing her poor school grades is in line for a seat on the state supreme court as the Republican governor, Ron DeSantis, continues to turn the bench to the right.

Jared Smith will be interviewed alongside 14 others next month by a nominating commission that will make recommendations to DeSantis, who last week signed a six-week abortion ban into law.

The governor appointed Smith to the newly established sixth district court of appeal in December, four months after voters in Hillsborough county ousted him from the circuit court following his controversial ruling.

Smith said the 17-year-old was unfit to obtain an abortion as he questioned her “overall intelligence, emotional development and stability”. The decision was overturned by a three-member appeals court that said Smith abused his judicial discretion.

DeSantis’s decision to disregard that rebuke was the second time he had looked favorably on Smith, having first appointed him to the circuit court in 2019.

Arizona

The Grand Canyon State shocked the United States and most of the world as it has been famously the red desert for so long. But it went blue in 2020 and even bluer in 2022. But why is it still so chock full of some absolute batshit insanity? Well here’s how fucked up Arizona is, and they still have a long way to go to root out most of the crazy people who still populate the state and local legislatures. Arizona leads the United States in the most vetoes per capita. Because right wingers are still addicted to the social media misinformation sphere, and they are trying to make internet conspiracy theories public policy, but this is why we say elections matter! Stop voting for conspiracy theorists!

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -- Governor Katie Hobbs (D-AZ) has broken the record for the most vetoes in a single Arizona legislative session.

On Tuesday, Hobbs was on track to veto an additional 11 bills from the 50 bills she is due to take action on as the legislative session wraps up this week. In total, the governor vetoed 63 bills, beating Janet Napolitano’s session record of 58 vetoes that was set in 2005.

Earlier this month, Arizona’s Family reported that Hobbs was on track to make a veto record. At the time, Republicans appeared undeterred by that warning and her growing list of vetoes and continued to push bills that seemed destined to get rejected.

“Just because the governor may veto a bill is no reason for us not to attempt to get it through,” said Sen. John Kavanagh, a Republican from Fountain Hills. “I came here to represent my constituents who believe in a lot of the things we’re pushing, and if it gets vetoed it gets vetoed.”
https://www.azfamily.com/2023/04/18/gov-hobbs-breaks-record-most-vetoes-single-arizona-legislative-session/

I know, right? I feel like the wall and the desk are winning. Oh yeah and election denial and conspiracy theories are strong in Arizona. Election denial is a very profitable business to be in. Just ask 2022 gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake, who, oh yeah LOST! Well, there’s Cochise County, which has been at the center of Arizona’s history of election denial in the last 10 years, and especially the last 3. This is one of those things that you just should not do under any circumstances. I mean how stupid do you have to be to put an election denying conspiracy theorist in charge of elections? Just give the alcoholic the keys to the liquor cabinet.

An Arizona county is being sued by the state’s Democratic attorney general after it transferred voting oversight to the county’s Republican recorder, who has cast doubts about past election results in a place where former President Donald J. Trump won nearly 60 percent of the vote in 2020.

It is the latest clash between Democrats in statewide office and Cochise County, a deeply Republican area in southeastern Arizona, where conspiracy theories about voter fraud and irregularities still swirl.

The county’s nonpartisan elections director, Lisa Marra, announced in January that she would resign, citing threats against her after she refused to comply with rogue election directives from the Republicans who control county government, including plans to count ballots by hand after last year’s midterm elections. She recently accepted a position with the secretary of state’s office.

The county’s board of supervisors then made David W. Stevens, the Republican recorder, the interim elections director, with the board’s two G.O.P. members supporting the new power structure in a Feb. 28 vote, and its lone Democrat opposing it.

Yeah these guys have a lot of useless empty brains! So we’ve often been asking what are they putting in the water supply to make everyone turn crazy? Well, Arizona might have the answer. Because there’s apparently a mysterious orange liquid in the waters near Prescott, which of course I don’t need to tell you is very close to Maricopa County. Which has been the home of one of the world’s worst and most corrupt sheriffs of all time – Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Come on, guys. Clean up and filter your water supply, maybe it might clear your heads!

A mysterious orange liquid is showing up in a small Yavapai County town, and officials are asking people to stay away from it. The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) is trying to identify orange liquid and soils surrounding the former Sheldon Mine in Walker, Arizona, roughly 11 miles from Prescott.

A resident first reported the liquid on Thursday near Sheldon Road and Midnight Snap Lane. ADEQ officials say due to recent heavy rainfall, the substance may be leaking into nearby areas. Residents are asked not to touch it.

The orange liquid was discovered surrounding the former Sheldon Mine in Walker, Arizona, roughly 11 miles from Prescott.(Arizona's Family)

ADEQ, Walker Fire Department, Yavapai County, and the Arizona Department of Emergency and Military Affairs are all working to see if the liquid needs to be cleaned up. However, if anyone has come into contact with it and is experiencing health issues, call your doctor as a precaution.

According to the USGS Mineral Resource Data System, the Sheldon Mine was primarily used for copper mining but also had gold, lead, silver, and zinc.
