(51,308 posts)We're just trying to think of suggestions for her.
You say you like to sing, so maybe just sing to her. At any rate, just reassure it that it will pass because it will.
I lived in Florida for years, and Malaise is no stranger to storms.

(19,382 posts)Makes the place so green. Hurricanes also come year after year since beginning of time. Good news is they are forecast for below average. Yes!

(51,308 posts)Just the rainy days of April!

(6,024 posts)I have lived in Florida most of my life. As a teacher for 30 years, I organized major school-year-end field trips around the state and April and May are historically some of our driest months. We used to worry about wildfires - not rain - when planning for field trips in late April/early May. The rainy season in in peninsular Florida begins in June and doesn't really getting going until July.
This late April rain is nice for me. We need it. I know it's hard on pets.

(6,024 posts)It's rather unusual. It's a cold front, not the summer stuff.
I was responding to the posts upstream that mention that this happens like clockwork.

(3,317 posts)Daughter, she is challenged. She is not a pet.

I'm very sorry about my misreading, Koz.
With primary students, I've had good luck soothing thunder fears by explaining (age-appropriately) how thunder and lightning form.

(51,308 posts)I think you have said her name is Tess, so perhaps use that instead of a name that others might innocently mistake for a pet's name?
At any rate, she is a grown woman.
People might not grasp that when you use a nickname that one generally thinks of for pets or children...they mean no harm.
kozar
(3,317 posts)Her name is Tess!. You seem to be following my posts , you have prolly been trolling too many people.

And if you have this much power on your devices, why aren't you taking care of Tess with a nice song or movie instead of ranting on the internet?

(60,612 posts)and put your arms around her back and front. Hum or sing to her. Mothers do this to our young children. It is called swaddling. It will calm Tess down and help her relax. You are one exceptional man. You are strong in your love for Tess. Bless you.
kozar
(3,317 posts)Sleeps right next to me. My nights? If she feels warm, I turn AC DOWN, if she feels cold, I shut off ac. Uhmm here on DU, Im kinda the person who is always uncomfortable
debm55
(60,612 posts)works with babies and young children. It helps with the breathing(slows it down) and the calming effect of your arms and your voice will help to relax. If she is not to big, put her on your lap and let her rest her head on your shoulder. The quietness of your voice and the closeness will help.
kozar
(3,317 posts)Oh snuggling would be great. She just Puts her foot to me, she doesnt hug, she doesnt give her arms, when I feel her foot in my hand,,, thats her. Like I said , my world is different.

(60,612 posts)will relax Tess. You are a very strong man to do all you do. Posters on here were not trying to hurt you. We know very little about what life is like for the posters here, unless they post about it. I don't think they were trying to hurt you. When we are under stress, things come across differently. Put your mind at ease and please follow my suggestions for Bess if the need arises again.
