(39,705 posts)Just as any corporate media entity would.
And yes, I include MSNBC in that group as well.
There are buckets of studies that show that people actually search out reporting that suits their individual bias. And I admit to being guilty of that (despite having no access to cable television). We all do it. When I do an online search for news/information, I know for sure I'm NEVER going to click on any link having to do with Fox, NewsMax, Gateway Pundit, etc.
I have long lost faith that reliable, accurate and complete reporting is what earns news outlets their ratings. And again, I admit to being part of the problem. The other part of the problem is that it is next to impossible to get any information or "news" without paying for it. Used to be you only needed a pair of rabbit ears on your TV and an electrical outlet to watch the news. Well, our household is in a "reception hole" when it comes to modern-day HD broadcasts. I'm sure that's true of a lot of households.
The technology that gives us 24/7 news gives it only to those that can afford to pay for it.
And then the question becomes: if you have to PAY for information, what information are you willing to pay for?

(35,007 posts)That tells you all you need to know about what's going on there. Olbermann speaks frequently of The Paste Eater's antics at MSNBC, which included trying to get other hosts kicked off the air, including Keith and Rachel.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
