If you are looking for a temperate climate, try AZ or CA. The CSA is hatred. Leave, "everything is waiting for you".
Why call it another lonely day?

(20,645 posts)We should move there. My vote doesnt mean anything in Hawaii - in Georgia maybe I could make a difference.
I would never leave forever, but we can make a difference there I think. Of course I have no idea what its like to live in a republican state.

(60,179 posts)Atlanta is pretty nice, Dallas is OK, and parts of Virginia (slowly turning back blue finally) are gorgeous. Even the big cities, like Atlanta and Dallas, can be somewhat laid back. I think someone from Honolulu would have an easier time adjusting than someone from Manhattan.

Lets give up the gains in North Carolina .
and many of the cities in red states are very blue .
And there are more Republicans in many blue states than there are in red states . They aren't going to leave .

(17,425 posts)Retrumplicans now have a veto proof super majority there, and a super majority state supreme court that just secured Retrumplican super majority rule for at least a generation.
As for Virginia, my adopted state, well, we could still smell the smoke, teargas and blood of Jan 6 waifting across the Potomac when we went to the polls and elected fascist fuckwads to our 3 highest statewide offices.
You may think I am kidding when I say "fascists fuckwads", I am sure you've heard of Glen Youngkin, but just Google our Lt. Governor, Winsome Earls-Sears, and our AG Jason Myares. Straight up nutjobs!
I have been told that, any minute now, the "good" people are going to vote for sanity, but I am wondering how many generations I will have to wait for this.
It's kind of why I am more on the side of doing what we can to punish the deplorable majoritites in these states, vice placing our hopes in the "good".

(69,360 posts)I live in North Carolina in a big blue bubble. While the state itself is experiencing a Republican coup, I believe that could happen anywhere, including California. Definitely Arizona.
Look to the rest of the country and protect our democracy. Stop trying to blame this on certain states. That's way too easy.
PS. My family is from Michigan and Ohio. Ohio used to be a purple state. What happened there? And how did Michigan turn things around? Important lessons there.

(56,108 posts)This level of regionalism disgusts me, but at least it isn't as bad as the racist bullshit I see here time to time wanting to cut off the southern states from the Union.
Do you only care about the dems of the South? What about the ones in Montana, Idaho, the Dakotas, Utah, and some of the other "liberal" bastions not in the South?
Oh, and since you are making a call for us to "come home", what is your relocation plan? Travel stipends? Are there jobs lined up for a variety of professions? What other pluses are there besides the weather?
Check the hate crimes stats for shits and giggles for those two states.
