(20,982 posts)I spent over 3 hours there going through every nook and cranny of that magnificent church. The history alone spans 1,000 years. The Coronation Chair goes back to the 13th century. The tombs and memorials to famous figures of British History never cease to amaze. The tomb of Kings and Queens are not to be missed.
Yet, it remains a place of worship, of celebration, of saying farewell. I plan to visit that amazing place once again on another trip to the UK.

(15,121 posts)My dad was an Army Chaplain and my mom was usually his organist/choir director. They had wonderful taste in music and that is the only thing I miss about that entire gig. My mom absolutely refused to sing any of that dreadful praise music. (I must take after her because I can't stand it.)
I'm a bit less of a believer than I once was. Still, I find sacred classical music to be among the best ever written. It always brings me back.
I also like their national anthem a lot better than I like ours, well, except for the words. It was pretty cool how the orchestra and organ all played it together.
