The nearby officer heard the shots and immediately radioed for backup. This is not a step you can skip. By the time he "neutralized" the shooter, eight people were dying or already dead.

If the officer were not nearby there would have been 3 times as many people killed, even with a fast law enforcement response.

Glad the officer was there. But that is not enough.

1. The attacker always has the advantage of surprise. Many people can be killed in a few seconds.

That is the great advantage of the assault rifle. The shooter generally have the more powerful weapon than what is in Bubba's pants. If the shooter has planned his to be a one way trip, he has nothing to lose, the civilian soldier has everything to lose.

There is a way to greatly reduce the numbers of mass murders that we are seeing today; other nations have figured it out. If the people would demand changes, we would have changes.

I've always felt if Australia could do it, then so could the US. They are both filled with self-loving men who think they rule their world.

We'd be better with "good" guys who say I'm voting for politicians who are going to ban assault style rifles, semi-auto pistols, hi-cap magazines, and carrying in general.

She had a concealed carry permit and her gun with her, but she was hiding just like everyone else and wasn't about to go outside and confront a guy with an AR-15.
