89. NY statutes are very specific to the definition of "penetration" and even Carroll said she could not

be certain of PENILE penetration or penetration beyond use of fingers. That does not diminish the jury's belief in her and their findings for her account at all.

The New York Penal Code gives “sexual intercourse” its “ordinary meaning” which is penetration, however slight, of a vagina by a penis. Digital penetration and penetration by an object are not included in the definition. Thus, where penetration is digital, the charge would not be rape, but aggravated sexual abuse.

But for those downplaying this liability finding, I'd note that finger or foreign body penetration is considered rape in some other states. Please do NOT diminish Carroll by suggesting a level of disbelief on the part of the jury. They followed the specific wording of the law and Carroll herself was less than certain of penile penetration (which unintentionally says something rather derisive about Trump as well, frankly).

There has to be something that the judge, prosecutor, jury, or opposing attorney did wrong. There are other possible causes, too, such as conflicts with the laws. These experts say they spotted nothing.

Anyone can appeal a decision. But in this case, with merit that could prevail? Seems unlikely.

As well, she still has another defamation case against him for stuff he said previously.
Normally, at this juncture, one might cut their losses and haggle a deal.
But he can't very well do that while appealing this case.

A big thing here:
Trump University got dinged $25 mil
Trump Foundation got wiped out and $2-3 mil in damages
Trump org got convicted along with Weisselberg for tax and fraud crimes and I think they got dinged $2 mil
Bragg indicted him.

But I think today is the first time the Teflon Don got nailed personally and it got far more media coverage.
It might help shake his people's confidence in him to evade the authorities and help some of them flip on Trump.
