(61,711 posts)New York defines rape in a very specific way. Carroll's testimony indicated that that requirement might not have been met. That's the law. I don't agree with the law either, but the jury had no control over that.
I doubt there was a MAGA on the jury. The made unanimous decisions very quickly.

(58,785 posts)it is by far the most profound, insulting, and conquering means men have of victimizing women -- and their societies. Broomsticks aren't in it, though they can be used to cause severe physical damage. And I stand on that.

(3,370 posts)You said "big difference between penis and fingers" and then you added "genuine rape." You edited your post at least 5 times and have not removed any of those words, so we're not going to pretend there is a slip up or confusion.

Hortensis
(58,785 posts)degrading and conquering women.
The one tRump meant when he spoke proudly of a million years of men attacking women. And the implied benefit to society of strong men overpowering and impregnating unwilling women. That's where his sense of right to rape comes from, besides the rights conferred merely by size and strength of course -- his ability to impregnate.

Hortensis
(58,785 posts)about the use of violent penile penetration and ejaculation as a weapon of hate and systematic war crime -- and the ongoing suffering of victims. Up to 50,000 females were victims of mass rape, including systematic goals of impregnating as many as possible in Bosnia-Herzegovina alone during that war, most carried out by Serbian soldiers. Thousands of them bore children of rape. But it happens everywhere as an ultimate form of attack by men on women (mostly), including here.
This victim's description of profound lifelong emotional damage is typical of penile rape.
Tree-Hugger
(3,370 posts)No one is debating whether rape is used as a weapon of war. No one is denying it. At issue are your assertion about "big difference between penis and fingers" as well as "genuine rape."
Non-penile penetration causes profound lifelong emotional damage. Non-penetrative sexual assault causes profound lifelong emotional damage.

(32,767 posts)... however I think the jury's award of $5 million will go a long way towards making things right for E. Jean Carroll.
Originally she tried to get him charged with rape under a criminal complaint and the DA could never see it that way. Or maybe he was scared of trying to indict Chump for anything, I don't know. If there had been criminal charges - if Chump had been convicted - it could have sent him to prison but it wouldn't have resulted in the money damages to the plaintiff. Ms. Carroll is actually better off now with her victorious civil suit.

(17,027 posts)The shit line from traitor when he denied raping Ms. Carroll 'she's not my type' is bs. Rapists care about opportunity. Period.
There are serial rapists and child molesters who get more provoked when they see a certain hair color or age group, but mainly, if a rapist can rape, he will. Rape is not an act of needing physical relief, it is not a primordial urge and it is not a response to looks or apparel. It is a sadistic need to overpower, punish and control.
Anyway, let's keep educating people about the underlying reasons for rape, and maybe there will be fewer victims someday.
