in that 2017 special election but thankfully won by Doug Jones.
Previous senators in that seat include Jeff Sessions (Attorney General under former guy), Howell Heflin, and John Sparkman (1952 Dem VP candidate).

(9,372 posts)Lindsay, honey, I hate to be the one to break it to you, but this was a FEDERAL trial. Yes, it started in the New York system, but someone (guess who) made a motion to transfer it to Federal Court, and that motion was approved.
