He is not a convicted sexual abuser.

A CIVIL jury found that he had battered Carroll by sexually abusing her. It's more than just semantics - a conviction would carry with it a jail sentence, potentially loss of voting rights, and registration on the sex offender list. From the number of people seriously asking about the latter, it is clear that people aren't just being confused by (or deliberately ignoring) semantics - they really believe he was convicted.
