Please don't use guns to fish, Kansas officials warn

CNN

Officials from the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks came across a fishy situation last Friday after finding a firearm allegedly being used to fish.

A Finney County Game Warden seized a 9 mm handgun “that was being used to take fish in Garden City,” Kansas game wardens said in a Facebook post May 5.

The wardens said that written violations were issued for “illegal means of take of fish” and “no fishing license.” They also reminded Kansans that “firearms are not a legal means to take fish.”

While firearms can’t be used to fish in Kansas, it is however legal to fish with a bow and arrow or a crossbow.

Typically for panfish I use a sixteen gauge with number four shot. If i'm going after something larger like muskies, of course i just use a grenade.

About Lionfish in Florida
Lionfish are considered an invasive species. They negatively impact the native species and their habitat. With them eating other fish and reefs and their overabundance, the marine life in Florida is suffering. They multiple quickly with females releasing 12,000 to 15,000 eggs every four days! The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) recommends that anyone who is able to remove lionfish from Florida waters to do so to preserve the native marine life and ecosystems in the state. Most of the time, lionfish are speared, caught in nets, or with hook and line. There is no limit to how many lionfish can be caught and disposed of in Florida. And, we hear they’re good eating.
