Major upset in Thailand

Thanks young people - eff all monarchies and their elite military allies

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/may/15/thailand-election-2023-national-elections-opposition-parties-crushing-blow-military-rule-junta

Thailand’s opposition parties have secured by far the largest number of votes in national elections, delivering a damning verdict to the military-backed government that has ruled the country for nearly a decade.

Speaking on Monday, the leader of the opposition Move Forward party said he had invited Pheu Thai, the party associated with the exiled former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, and four other opposition parties to form an alliance after securing the largest number of votes.

“I am Pita Limjaroenrat, the next prime minister of Thailand,” he told reporters in Bangkok, adding “we are ready to form the government”, as he vowed to be a “prime minister for all”.

These kids get it. I remember being frustrated with my Gen X peers when we were young because a lot were either oblivious or bought all the pro-Reagan propaganda that was pushed on us then.

If they are smart, they won't as this vote tally will be difficult to overrule peacefully and economically.

I started following the Thai culture when I saw a Thai TV show called "Not Me". How that was able to be broadcast on TV amazed me.It was portrayed as a "BL" movie but it was very anti - establishment, anti-oligarchy etc.

I am hoping they can pull it off.

England. Buddhism in Thailand is largely of the Theravada school, which is followed by 95 percent of the population. Thailand has the second largest Buddhist population in the world, after China.

They have a very unique outlook on just about everything.

Very interesting.

Young people vote more to the left of their elders, all over the world.

America is no exception.

They just have to have someone that motivates them to vote for and they will.
