Imagine if I pulled that on my (R) congresscritter's people. Not that I would, of course--I have much better manners than a redhatter.

6. Glad they're okay. Reminds me when I worked down the hall from our

congressman's office, and staffers had a button that alerted our office that they needed help. As it happened, only women were in office the three times the congressman's female staffers used it while I was there (not the only times by far they were threatened, just the most concerning). Fortunately, the guys spitting rage weren't waving bats or guns and backed off from a doubling of the number of women opposing them before the police arrived.

No doubt these days their security is much stronger. One hopes for real.

8. This is frightening.

Members of congress and their staff are accessible so that people can go to them with their problems. Attacks like this will put them behind closed doors, plexiglass glass windows and less accessible spaces making it more difficult for those who need help to get to them.
