Rep Connolly Bat Attacker - Gun Control
The daily beast is reporting the man ( Xuan Kha Tran Pham ) who attacked staffers in Rep Connolly’s office was schizophrenic. His father says he’s been off his meds three weeks. I figured this was some kind of mental health issue after reading about his lawsuit against the CIA (it’s crazy). He claimed the agency was guilty of “wrongfully imprisoning me in a lower perspective based on physics called the book world since 1975,” and “brutally torturing me with a degenerating disability consistently since 1988 till the present from the fourth dimension.”

I’m guessing given his arrest a few years ago for assaulting and attempting to disarm a police officer that he was probably involuntarily committed to a mental facility. I did read the charges were dismissed after treatment (probably taking meds). Federal law prohibits people who have been involuntarily committed from possessing guns.
This made me think “thank God he didn’t have an AK47”. I’m sure on the right they’ll be sarcastically saying “let’s ban bats!”. But that’s kind of proving the fact gun control can work. If he’d had an assault weapon instead of a bat what could this have looked like? Dozens dead?
Limiting access to guns can and does work. The next time someone like MTG whines about Red Flag Laws they should be asked if they think it should be OK for someone like this to have access to weapons of war?
