I am a 70+ year-old straight male, and I have the super power of a cloak of invisibility that no female in her 20s 30s or 40s can see me when I walk down the street. And that is the way it should be: that he would entertain the notion of being serviced by this woman, in any capacity while shes an employee of his is so incredibly disgusting to me as a relatively sane individual, that I believe that he has some degree of frontal lobe dementia.
Certainly, a fair number of these women speak to me when they want some advice from someone their fathers or grandfathers age whos been around the block a few times. Or if they need to know how to brush and floss their teeth properly, or what construct of implant treatment planning , and I mean DENTAL implants, they should utilize if they are missing teeth. Or directions
Im really good at giving directions to people whether theyre walking or driving.
This repulsive little worm has the temerity to talk as though hes in his first or second year of law school as the class stud and it is beyond off-putting, it is vomit inducing. The first time he exposed himself to her, she would have been much better situated if she had laughed and said, Wow
That looks like a penis, but much smaller.

Most of these were guys who had daughters were in the age brackets of these women. When they are a grand daughter's age: these sleeze buckets need medicating. Why hasn't Rudy been indicted, yet, anyways?

(58,095 posts)When I was in my 20s and early 30s and in my first career, I was one of the first generation of women who worked in a field that had previously been entirely male dominated. So I was often one of a very few women in a room of men who tended to be 30 years older than me, or more.
I have to tell you, the thought processes that go on in some men's heads are completely bizarre. Some of them seemed to think they just had to place themselves in front of me and say something suggestive, and I was expected to fall at their feet.
I remember sitting at lunch with one once. It was a command performance that was required for my job. He kept telling me that when I slept with him (when, not if), he would introduce me to James Taylor. I kept saying, in no uncertain terms and without laughing or doing anything that would dilute the message, "That just isn't going to happen." And he kept reacting as if I was being coy and we both knew I though he was the greatest.
To this day, the thing that is clearest in my memory is the sweat droplet that was hanging from his earlobe. Blech.
There are a lot of Rudys out there.

(22,446 posts)I think most men that are in the group you describe, Scrivener7, are not only misogynist but are usually against all human and humane values. Yes, there are some women who can be that way also.
I've been lucky (white, male) but have never thought that it gave me any advantage over other people, whatever the race, sex, age, etc. Of course it has made it easier for me, but I f'd up anyway in my own endeavors. But I would never, never impose on another person because of my genetics. I hope.

(1,019 posts)1. Ive been in situations where a man tried to take advantage of me. Once at the age of 16 when I worked as a receptionist for a church rectory and a priest kissed me. I pulled away and never went back to work after that. I didnt tell anyone. But I quit. I dont understand why she stayed employed by him.
2. She appears to be enjoying herself in some of the pictures. Was she putting on an act? What goes on inside womens heads in this situation. I dont have enough insight I guess.
I just dont get why she continued in his employment under this harassment.

(863 posts)I too found myself in uncomfortable situations with older men who I worked for and I bolted in every case.
I never thought any job was worth it. Not sure what this woman's situation was, but I also was never in the position
that my participation (or not participating) meant the difference in whether my kid would eat dinner that night or not.
I've also never been in the employ of famous people, celebrities, wealthy people, etc. Maybe she was star struck?
But . . . . gross.

(114,359 posts)It doesn't matter how old those old goats are, they're out there and they think every woman they meet owes them something. PUAs and whiny incels aside, I think the older they get, the worse they get.
I hope the younger ones are at least more subtle and less grabass, but I'm not optimistic.
I did bedside nursing for 25 years, too.
As for Rudy, I'm glad he was caught on video. When he settles out of court (and he will), I hope part of the settlement gets him to see a kindly man with a lot of initials after his name. That guy just aint right.

(40,320 posts)... have had very different life experiences.
My wife too.
I'm automatically accepted by U.S.A. society as a straight white guy. I don't have to show my official Straight White Guy identification card for anything. I know the rules of that game, hard won as that education was, my middle and high school queerbait self. (Yes, that's what the bullies called me.)
My sister and my wife and my mom have always had to consider these things when seeking new employment. I haven't.
It's likely I've never had a boss who'd hired me imaging I'd suck his penis.
Okay, I'll confess, I had one boss like that, but it was always silly, and nobody in his office, male, female, or other, ever felt threatened so far as I know. He probably died a virgin and wanted it that way. But that's another story...
...or maybe not. If someone told me otherwise I wouldn't immediately dismiss it.

(27,939 posts)It accounts for what we used to call dirty old man behavior. I had a patient who passed away recently who was a Judge who had this for about 20 years and everybody used to just giggle and play dumb, but I felt it was pathology. When he got very very old, he was seen by psychiatrist and studies were done of his brain which showed that he had significant frontal lobe issues.

The reputation of Rudy Giuliani could be set for a further blow with the release of highly embarrassing footage in Sacha Baron Cohens follow-up to Borat.
In the film, released on Friday, the former New York mayor and current personal attorney to Donald Trump is seen reaching into his trousers and apparently touching his genitals while reclining on a bed in the presence of the actor playing Borats daughter, who is posing as a TV journalist.
Following an obsequious interview for a fake conservative news programme, the pair retreat at her suggestion for a drink to the bedroom of a hotel suite, which is rigged with concealed cameras.
After she removes his microphone, Giuliani, 76, can be seen lying back on the bed, fiddling with his untucked shirt and reaching into his trousers. They are then interrupted by Borat who runs in and says: Shes 15. Shes too old for you. https://www.theguardian.com/film/2020/oct/21/rudy-giuliani-faces-questions-after-compromising-scene-in-new-borat-film

(1,654 posts)Granted that would be ignored and "not made an issue of." One of them is that almost any man is in more of a position of power than almost any woman. If your ass was fondled in an elevator and you turned around, everybody looked innocent. Nobody was going to say "he did it." Most of the time at work in the 60s and 70s it wasn't that overt, but when Mad Men was so popular, my kids were surprised to find out I did not enjoy it and I explained that time period was no so great for women. If you were a secretary they often referred to you as their "girl." Men took credit for your ideas and you let them
Now the late 70s and 80s were another thing. At least we women were starting to stick together more. I remember when my ex-husband joined Rotary and I joined the ladies group. Some of our get togethers were fun and some of the get togethers with the men and ladies were fun. However, some of the older ladies counseled me never to stand next to or be seated next to X. When I questioned them, they said, if you stand next to him, he pinches, if he's seated next to you he feels your thigh. Everyone!! Apparently, he didn't discriminate. But as far as I know, no one ever confronted him about it. He was otherwise a nice guy, well thought of and told funny stories. Everybody loved his wife.
I mean, this was not work related, but it's still the male dominant society where we were expected to put up with a little bit of nastiness and not make waves to get along.
