What happens to the Republican Party if Trump is indicted?

Do they remain on the Trump bandwagon? Do they continue to defend him?

Or will it give them the freedom and opportunity to finally separate themselves from the chains of the cult leader that took over their Party?

Will they feel brave enough to not defend the criminal actions?

Will they tell their supporters to let the justice system work?

Or, even if Trump is indicted, they will not have the courage to rescue their Party from the dark forces of Trumpism?

Is the Republican Party of the past gone forever?

They will be the Party of Trump or they will be nothing?

They don't care. He is indicted on 34 felonies for paying off a porn star to keep quiet about their affair during his 2016 campaing. He wsa just found in court to have sexually assaulted a woman. They don'y care.

But the caviat is that DeSantis is about to start using it against him.

He can verbally destroy an individual at this time....that said...it is becoming less effective as a few have turned on him such as Bill Barr....a softball turn, but a turn against tRump to try and save his own hide..

The GOP will drop him in a nano second as soon as they can ....

It will take decades, but it has economic foundations. There are no more virgin resources to plunder. Economic activity is of the mind now. Capital is not scarce, resources are, but recycling helps feed the system. 100 years out, no one wants to serve this monster anymore. Greed is gone, sharing and enjoying is in. The melting of conflict will blunt the hard edges.

INDEFINITELY, it would appear.

I would assume SOME R's would join John Cornyn in backing away. The majority? Doubtful. Insurrectionists are going to sedition.

As a Party, they will not criticize Trump for the Stormy Daniels indictments or the defamation case against E Jean Carroll, but they might if there are Federal indictments?

Many may look at it as the last chance to save their Party.

They may simply say, "Let the system work", which would be devastating for Trump.

Indictments are only serious incidents to be followed up on IF you are a Democrat.

Today, Richard Nixon would have nothing to fear from his own party. Hell, not even "George Santos" seems to need fear anything. Back in 1974, even Barry Goldwater, their own presidential nominee, said that Nixon should resign. These days, in the face of overwhelming (and still emerging) evidence, Republicans have nothing to say about Trump, where Democrats are sometimes only too quick to trash our own best people (e.g. Al Franken), if someone stands behind them and yells, BOO! No solid evidence necessary.

This is NOT an even playing field.

They will use it as a totem. It will become their primary message.

They will probably go down in flames (again)....

but they hold out hope that they can fix it in swing state legislatures and in hardwired courts.
