Republican worries are growing that Colorado is slipping further into the hands of Democrats after recent defeats and close calls in the most conservative parts of the state.
The latest blow to the GOP in the Centennial State came this week when Republicans lost the mayoral race in Colorado Springs, marking the first time in decades that a member of the party wouldnt take the helm of the conservative bastion.
That followed a surprise near-upset last year when Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) almost lost her reelection bid in one of the midterms biggest surprises.
Colorados changing political landscape, which Republicans believe is due to a culmination of factors, comes as the party looks to hold onto its slim House majority in next years elections.
Across the board in Colorado, we saw a swing to the left that was wholly unanticipated in the November midterms, said Sandra Hagen Solin, founder of lobbying firm Capitol Solutions, who has worked in Republican politics.

(64,637 posts)Tired of the right leaning rhetoric saying "repubs are giving up" shit that Dems are out there working hard and taking from them. Dems that actually listen to the people they are working to represent, instead of repubs who want to rule a theocratic fasci-monarchy. Passive bullshit trying to say how repubs are "valiantly losing in their righteous cause to evil Dems."

But this line really got me:

Really? You are a supposed professional at this and failed to see it coming? I saw it coming in 2016!! Confirmed in 2018! Confirmed again in 2020! And again in 2022!!
Sweet buttery kittens .

(9,148 posts)are becoming ever-less dominant in the voting booth (and the yes, generalization very conservative Silent Gen is now a tiny voting bloc, thank goodness). Those born after 1980 arent as susceptible to propaganda and bullshit.
So, yeah, between that and Dobbs and the decline in religion and the widespread desire for action on guns and climate change
sucks to be the GQP.

(6,074 posts)You failed to see the next one coming. Gen X came of age during the Reagan-Bush years including all the ills the GOP orchestrated, Contra-Coke, S&L collapse and a hollowing out of the American Dream. The Millennials have had to go to school with active shooter drills. They know who is responsible for the proliferation of guns, climate destruction and the resource hoarding. Sorry GOP you made your bed, now you have to live with it.
