Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsDoes DeSantis know that there are intersex people?
1.7% of the population are born with intersex traits. Their gender is ambiguous. This is a scientific fact.
Gender is not "assigned at birth" for everyone. I don't think parents should be forced to put their infants under the knife to make things clearer for those who can't tolerate this.
It scares me that people who are ignorant of the facts get to make policy.

But these cruel fuckers have terrorized others for as long as we know them.

2. If he has heard that word he finds it laughable, bullshit, and "woke".
3. He would have intersex persons jailed as child abusers if he had the chance.

(58,785 posts)Those bouncing off the ceilings about homosexuality etc NEVER mention the far greater numbers who are fine with mixing it up even if they have a preference.
As Pfitz said, I'm sure. They keep issues simple to not introduce confusion into opposition and the targets clearly defined and small enough to appear weak and defeatable. Such as not weakening their simplistic rhetoric with intersex realities.
Btw, the few laws I've actually read do keep medically necessary surgery legal. Vague, but I assume corrective surgeries for gender anomalies at birth would tend to fall under that. An intersex population wouldn't serve their black-or-white reactionary "ideology."

(3,782 posts)Even if a procedure might be technically legal, if there is doubt there might not be a doctor willing to perform the procedure because of the risk of prosecution. This is the problem with clearly lethal and unviable pregnancies in states with abortion bans.
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)be, and is being, fixed to facilitate medically necessary surgeries, with states looking to each other and medical associations for help in defining what's legal. For many, including surgeons, it's extremely personal and extremely important.
And of course court cases will also force revision or repeal of unworkable laws.
Until WE "repeal" the knuckledraggers inexcusably allowed the power to pass them.

(4,090 posts)A deliberate 'obedience' of the law by individuals such as pictured above (with lawyers) making a point of disagreement with the law; and of course, the reverse.
If gun-culture can intimidate society, then reality-culture can 'brandish' also in support of inclusion-culture.

(7,417 posts)None of them give one flaming twit about anyone's gender. I doubt they even care about other wealthy white "christian" hetero males let alone anyone else. Not other men of any sort, certainly not women.
What they care about is using the wedge of the day to keep us divided and increase personal power and wealth. All the rest is just made up bull feathers.

(22,737 posts)The sooner 50% of our population accepts that the better. They also need to embrace the concept of MOB (mind own business) and they'll have plenty to keep them busy. Someone else's, particularly someone they don't even know, gender and sexuality has zero impact on them. It's simply none of their damn business.
