(46,155 posts)As much as I dont like McConnell, I doubt he wants to blow up the US economy to help Trump.

(15,595 posts)with a cretin and a political pipsqueak. I really rather doubt that McConnell wants to spend any time in the same room ... On the other hand - Mitch McConnell sold his soul to the party - a long, long time ago.
(and just desserts - as that party now metastasizes into - McCarthy and MTG)

Who is the other one?

(90,450 posts)DiFi is one of em and the poster didnt know who the other one was. But a second somebody is supposed to be in very bad health
Chuck Grassleys no spring chicken and evidently hasnt exactly in the best of health. But the presumed second seriously ailing Senator was not identified.
The post described the illnesses as more serious than is being described.
One is DiFi. The other one could be McConnell or Grassley.
We are guessing on the second one.

(90,450 posts)Its not like him. Hes ordinarily much more forceful a personality. But lately it seems like hes just coasting along at minimal power.
Just speculation on my part, though.

(60,353 posts)I hear that Grassley of Iowa is not exactly at the top of his game, either. A friend of mine from Iowa said the Democratic Senate campaign was waiting for Grassley to have one of his ever-more-frequent "senior moments" on camera before the election last year, but he had plenty of them, they didn't get their wish to get any of them captured on a video that they felt they could use and not be in bad taste. Stupid Democrats, always trying to be civil about these things...........

(81,986 posts)One of the sitting senators who is quite ill is of course DF.
We know that.
Interesting about Grassley. Yes it could be him.
We have an aging US senate population and there should be transparency
about their health. We have a right to know if senators are capable of doing their jobs.
They are federal employees paid by the US taxpayer.
I just shake my head when people say it is none of our business if a US senator is too ill to do their job.
If US Senators don't want to answer questions they need to get the hell off the public gravy train.
Go find another job in private industry.

Its time for Mitch to have a lee Atwater moment. Mitch would have died a long time ago had it not been for socialized medicine.

The devil takes care of his own.
Only Daniel Webster beat him at a deal.

Joe Biden can be the second.
(Jack Smith can be the third)

(82,383 posts)and keep it up - being in the Senate must be the greatest thing ever. Nobody wants to retire. Having that power obviously tops having money or traveling or family.

(3,828 posts)His antics to seal the Supreme Court for a generation for the Federalist Society cabal is not forgivable. He is every bit the power hungry evil sociopath that Trump is.
He is just more subdued publicly.
