Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsIs Timothy Parlatore a set-up to get Trump off on stolen documents charges?
He says they could not get into to search for other documents, after the subpoena, because they were blocked by Boris Epshteyn?
Of course, if that is the case, Trump would have an alibi for not turning over the documents when requested.
But what would be Epshteyn's alibi? Would he be set-up to be a "fall guy", to remove the charges from Trump?
There are a lot of questions but one has to wonder if there was some ulterior motive for Tim Parlatore?

(45,484 posts)I suspect after the subpoena, the FBI had tapped into his remote security system and watched him move the boxes in real time. Speculation of course but we know he watched the FBI search from his apartment in New York. Thats how they knew where to go in his desk and drawers to find the stuff

(13,283 posts)In order to set up Epshteyn, he will have to testify.
I think he quit Trump to reduce his odds of having to testify under oath in the first place. Epshteyn is just his scapegoat for doing so.

(11,767 posts)There seems to be too much evidence of Trump's direct knowledge and involvement to have that be a plausible defense. That doesn't mean they wouldn't try it and use it to delay and deflect.
Trump doesn't really WIN court battles. He usually just drags them out far enough to have penalties reduced, or waits out the smaller opponents who run out of money and have to settle. At this point, Trump bit off more than he could chew. He could have remained a bigger fish in a smaller pond, but when he was put into the presidency he focused the microscope on himself. He is a crook and has always been one, but not big enough for anyone to focus on. Having been president, been so corrupt, and try to remain in power illegally, he is in a different league in terms of personnel going after him.

(55,137 posts)It seemed off to me that he quit and immediately went on tv where he exposed arguably privileged communications to bash Epshteyn and "exonerate" trump. He ended with saying he was sorry he was going to miss the celebration party when Trump's cleared.
I think it's possible.
