https://www.rawstory.com/trump-truth-social-2660592285/Former President Donald Trump on Wednesday enthusiastically repeated praise he received from anti-vaccine conspiracy theorist and Democratic presidential candidate Robert Kennedy Jr.
Specifically, the former president quoted a statement that Kennedy made when he appeared on Steve Bannon's podcast about Trump's debating prowess.
"President Trump has shown himself to be the most devastating debater probably since Abraham Lincoln in terms of just his capacity to obliterate and dispatch opponents," Kennedy said, in a quote posted on Trump's Truth Social account.
In reality, Trump has not shown himself to be a devastating debater, let alone one on par with one of America's most historically well ranked presidents.

(11,767 posts)I am a 50 year old professional with a Masters Degree and working on my second. I have three wonderful children and an awesome wife. When I hear someone say, "Was he in a debate?" or something else with the word "Debate" in it, that is my go to response, "Oh, he's good as debate?" Would you say he's a masterdebater? or So then he's a masterdebater! My wife can't get enough of that...

(11,767 posts)In the clown shows that we call "debates" in this day and age, Trump is able to perform debate to ignorant fools, which as other responders pointed out, consists of posturing, shameless attacks, lying his ass off, and other aggressive techniques. That is not debate. Trump has no idea about policy and no idea of use of logic, argumentation, and evidence. He is a WWE performer, playing the heel.
For Kennedy to even say that falsely, makes him seem more ridiculous then usual. I can imagine that losing your father in such a violent manner that RFK Jr. did, would have significant and lasting effects, but get some therapy man... this bullshit that he is doing is such a stain on the Kennedy name and legacy.
When you compare how JFK Jr. lived and what he stood for, and what RFK Jr. has become, it is really sad. I mean, we don't know if JFK Jr. would have spun out and become some weirdo scumbag like his cousin but he seemed to be on a decent trajectory before his untimely death.

(11,767 posts)Trump really does not grasp concepts and he is so arrogant that he doesn't think he has to because he knows everything. Like when he said, he knows better than the generals how to win... People blame Biden for the withdrawal in Afghanistan, but it was Trump who agreed to and announced the departure, giving a hard date, that Biden pushed out further to give a bit more prep time, but what that did was enable the Taliban to simply ... wait. Trump says, "it was peaceful, and nobody got killed..." Yeah you dipshit, the Taliban knew when we were leaving, so they simply waited until we actually started to leave and then they moved in.
He certainly has a limited vocabulary, but he also has poverty of content, which means the information he knows and understands is limited, which is why he always appears to use the same words to describe situations that are vastly different in their complexity, from each other.
When you discuss foreign policy, you use terms VERY different than when you are discussing tax policy or public health. Trump tries to equate them all to "business" terminology because that appears to be his safe space, even though he has been a failure at that as well. He notoriously talks to all subjects in terms of "negotiation" and "deal making" when everyone who actually knows and dealt with him said how horrible he was at it and how he would sabotage deals because of his stupidity.
Trump is a bad debater because he doesn't even understand the concept and purpose of a debate.

(6,480 posts)listens because he really doesn't care about what they're saying. He's got canned responses, probably rehearsed in front of a mirror. He's more of an actor playing a role than a genuinely responsive human being.

(11,767 posts)So, he does not value anyone's opinion but his own. He has convinced himself that he knows more than everyone else, although very likely, on a deeply emotional level, he does not feel adequate and covers for that with the false bravado.
Trump has layers upon layers of pathology.
His responses may be canned and rehearsed, but to all but his true sycophants, they sound pretty stupid. They are repetitive and lack substance.
