to end this debt limit crisis for the moment? And would it end it temporarily? Then how long would it take for McCarthy to protest it to SCOTUS?

(52,324 posts)Certainly they could object to stop any treasury auction to borrow beyond the debt ceiling.
Minting a trillion dollar coin might be different, it may be possible to do that in the dead of night before an injunction can be obtained. But then they could file to have it treated as not legal tender.
Either way, republicans will go running to the supremes and the supremes will have a chance to really mess things up if they want.
That said, I actually expect the Supreme Court to be reasonable. They don't want to be responsible for a catastrophe.
