(9,354 posts)Mostly because of Elmer Fudd, Elmer is considered to be a very funny name. It actually means "noble" and/or "famous (not notorious).
Stuart comes from the word steward - a guy oho worked around the stables (which inluded shoveling you-know-what. And, yes, the Stuart dynasty rose from that level.)
Rhodes, on the other hand, is a greek island.
Whatthe_Firetruck
(610 posts)... Like a major-domo. He'd be the guy in charge of the shovelers and everyone else working in a noble's manor. One of the three Scottish tatans I have in my ancestry is Royal Stewart (the others being Gordan and Cameron, I also married a man descended of MacLeod of Harris, of Highlander fame).

hatrack
(64,890 posts)Not that there's anything wrong with that, but probably not as noble as Rhodes would like to think.

(4,741 posts)It's what you do with it once you have it.
The Clintons are both Yale law alums. I have no doubt whatsoever that they have put their degrees to better use--especially Hillary--than any traitor party alum from the same institution has.
I believe that what makes their degrees worth the paper they're printed on is that they went into acquiring it with the right idea: To master a subject so that they could put it to good use for everyone, not just themselves.
For the Clintons, some of it was to better themselves, but some of it was also to better their world. You know they were hitting the books hard and studying their butts off to learn as much as they could. They made the most of that degree, and I'm sure they've retained a great deal of what they learned while getting it.
For traitor party thugs, it's about what the degree can do for them--the prestige, the doors opened, the money to be made. They learn just enough to get by, or get the grades they need to open doors for them. In the case of a Yale law degree, enough to get a Supreme Court clerkship or intern at a prestigious law firm.
But they don't give a fig about subject knowledge, never mind mastery. They probably remember precious little of what they learned while getting it. They were too busy plotting how to check off boxes to get themselves ahead. I doubt if they remember anything about most of the classes they took, not even the professor's names.
This happens in all career fields. We at DU notice the law school thugs, because so many of them use an Ivy degree to catapult them into political office. I can assure all of you, though, that it happens in every field you can think of--the physician field is especially rife with these traitor trash wankers, because the money and prestige for doctors can be so high. Think Frank Burns on M*A*S*H. He is the epitome of someone who went to medical school not to help people, but to get rich and claim respect he didn't deserve.
Whenever I see these traitor party thugs with advanced degrees, I'm always thinking in the back of my mind that they're all dopplegangers for Frank Burns.
And I bet they also eat worms.

(302 posts)The biggest jerk in the town, met all the other jerks on the world wide web and they formed the biggest jerk society
because - what else did they have going for themselves anyhow
sometimes I think of middle school and the biggest jerks in the school threatening all us kids who were
first of all going through puberty and just struggling to find some self identity
And then, the first thing you can soundly identify about your life on this planet earth is that,
hell yes, some people really are jerks - but hopefully, later on in your life you feel sorry for
them, somebody really messed with that poor jerk, and I can only imagine what kind of shit
hit the fan in that persons family when they were young.
but then I think, those jerks, I don't know if it's something in their DNA or what,
maybe it's society, social media, too many late night movies like Mad Max, and
wishing they were The Toe Cutter because it felt like how things should be.
It's kind of creepy - this people Donald Trump seems to command
to say the least.
The Supreme Court he hath helped Mitch McConnell and Leonard Leo to create

(90,021 posts)Every week starts with a timely announcement and a quote-of-the-week. Here's the one for next week!
I was suddenly taking care of a man with a hole in his head.
- Tasha Adams, estranged wife of eye-patch-wearing Oath Keeper founder Stewart Rhodes (just sentenced to 18 years in prison for leading a plot to help Trump stay in power after losing the 2020 election) who once accidentally dropped a .22-caliber handgun and shot himself in the face, costing him his left eye.
https://www.cnn.com/2023/05/25/politics/oath-keepers-sentencing-stewart-rhodes-kelly-meggs/index.html
He lost an eye because he was a careless, sloppy jerk who didn't understand how to handle a firearm. And he certainly didn't care to take care!
FakeNoose
(41,637 posts)... but she really didn't.
She met him when she was 18 and right out of high school. He was 25 and already medically discharged from the military. (He broke his back while parachute jumping.) They get married, and her parents gave her the money they had saved up for her college education. By this point Stewart takes the money and puts himself through law school and makes Tasha work fulltime in Las Vegas as a stripper to support them both.
Nice guy huh? I learned this by reading a couple of paragraphs, and I don't want to know any more.
She is well rid of him!

(90,021 posts)I hope shes far, far away and not traceable when he gets out. Assuming, of course that he ever does get out.
