Is the South Carolina Legislature officially taking on a Talibanish attitude to women legislators?

Is it my understanding from others who have access to cable TV that there are only 5 women in the South Carolina state senate.. and all 5 (Democratic and Republican women senators) were opposed to the latest abortion legislation that was passed.

The fact is the Republican state senators are opposed to abortion also, but with exceptions etc.

I was informed (do not have cable anymore) by a neighbor who watches CNN, that she had listened to an interview with a woman Rep. South Carolina senator and that the senator said one of her male counterparts in the senate was saying that women cannot propose abortion legislation for or against, because they are not respected enough to have people listen to them.. (words to that effect..)

Also, that the few republican women senators (3) were going to be challenged for their seats by republican state house members..

I hope to GOD that my neighbor is out to lunch on this... because if she is not.. what is next for SC.. burkas??

1. Some areas have really become grotesque. There is a war going on in the US and I really wonder

how many casual voters in the US realize they might well be rolled over and have minimal civil rights. Often Americans are so damn aloof.

4. Yep, lackadaisical and aloof Americans. I often just do not get it. I think so

many are conditioned to feel/believe America just trucks along and all is good. The future of America, seriously, really frightens/concerns me. I swear, often it feels like the beginning of a strong fascist takeover of the country. I mention this to some and they say "oh, calm down." I don't get it, maybe poor education or a lack of any visionary aspect whatsoever. To me, the writing is on the wall. 2024 is so damn serious. Fascists have intertwined in America and are tenacious. Minds cast in hardened cement IMO. So many seem to vote on the facade of an individual without even minimally exploring what they are made of. And a major political party wherein Trump is the best they can come up with ... or maybe DeSatan as a fill in.

we have conversations .. I may disagree with people but I do not refuse to communicate with them.. She knew we gave up cable and was sharing something.. I honestly thought she was just yanking my chain.. ... and easy peasy search for that.. no way.. I could not pull up anything on CNN that had that, maybe I worded the question wrong... but I couldn't pull it up. But I have no idea what you are agreeing with , with the other poster, .. that the story the neighbor shared was true (my original question) or that I should get cable back ( at the price it is now, I will need a go fund me page) or that I had a hell of a nerve for saying "I hoped to God my neighbor is out to lunch on this" and I hoped she was.. As a woman, I am appalled at the very idea of someone telling a fellow legislator who is female that they cannot propose legislation because they would not be respected because they are female..
