Why did 11% of self-described liberals vote Republican at the top of the ticket?

Conservative Democrats in national elections, I can understand. Voting for a Republican official in some random New England town I can understand. The Democratic party isn't especially liberal, but the GOP is extreme right and the idea that any self-described liberal would prefer Soiled Mittens to President Obama is bizarre as fuck. Maybe they\re the same weird "liberals" who want Disney writing our copyright laws.

I have talked to a lot of liberals that are mad at Obama for a variety of reasons. However as Chris Rock said about this type "Obama hasn't come up with a cure for cancer, so I'm going to vote for cancer" I paraphrase of course.

Just on social issues alone. Romney is a disaster. But, what he would do to the economy would be well, I wasn't around for the depression in the late 1930's, but I imagine it would be something like that.

And I actually read it wrong it was just 14% of Liberals. But notice that only 8% of Democrats claimed to have voted for Romney.

I personally know some that voted for Romney because they fell for the he is better on the economy BS. I actually believe that they think their jobs will be gone now that Obama won and these people are executives at big corporations.

Someone voting "for Romney" is by definition, not a liberal. Period.

Stop with the weak sauce attempts to drive in wedges where they don't exist.

You asked for a link to where the OP might be getting his info and I provided one. I guess you didn't really want one.

And I really don't see how the OP asking a simple question is "attempting to drive wedges."

You're thinking rationally, some people think only emotionally.

My mother New England-born and life-long still identifies as a liberal Republican even this far after the death of the Republican left, the sort of person who wonders where all the good Republicans like Lowell Weicker and the Chaffees went. A little sad inside that Olympia Snowe retired because the GOP looks a little less like her than it did a month ago. Still pro-labor and pro-capitalist. Still refusing to admit that Ronald "Asshole" Reagan was anything but an aberration. Admitting the last GOP nominee she liked before Romney was Richard Nixon...but she voted for Obama anyways because Romney showed a lack of character by refusing to admit he's still pro-choice. She liked him better when he was governor of MA and pro-choice. Lots of people from where I grew up have the exact same politics, half of them voted for Romney...all of them if asked would self-id as "liberal".
