Seems like Joe Manchin got his energy permitting reform in the debt ceiling deal

Part of the deal, IIRC, for Joe Manchin's vote on the Inflation Reduction Act was energy permitting reform.

It looks like those talks fell through last year, and now he's getting it. That's probably good for his re-election campaign. The pipeline in West Virginia is something that he could sell.

Any Republican that might replace Manchin is a hundred times worse. Democratic majorities aren't built on purity tests.

I bitch and complain about Manchin all day long, and believe me I do, but I'd rather have him holding that West Virginia senate seat rather than a Republican that will never work with us.

His fellow Democrats were supportive. But Republicans got butt hurt because Manchin agreed to support either infrastructure or the Inflation bill, I can't remember which.

I'm fine with this. We are so far from moving away from fossil fuels. Sadly. But that's the reality.
