"SNIP.......
Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) said he will force the Senate to vote this week on cutting total federal spending by 5 percent in each of the next two years, a proposal that would include Social Security and Medicare, The Hill reports.
Its an uncomfortable vote for Senate Republicans, one which it divides their conference.

Social Security and Medicare are not programs that should be cut.

(15,402 posts)But I'm sure even then, he's more inclined to target defense cuts to programs that actually support the troops, retirees, and their families.
And veterans - especially veterans, the majority of whom only served only a few years past the minimum 18 months or got out after 4 to 6 years after getting the training to jump them into better career opportunities than would be available right out of high school.
You just know he considers those types of Vets total takers and cheats.

(44,738 posts)I guess rand Paul has forfeited all of the socialist perks he gets by being a U.S. senator, I ask with a jaundiced skew of the truth.
May I ask. Have any of you on this site ever asked yourself, which one of these motherfucking Republican senators do I hate the most? Lots of self loathing with rand. Id self loathe too if my father named me after a failure.

(25,410 posts)We seniors are tired of getting the benefits we paid for all our working lives.
And as for Medicare, we can all just do what Rand Paul does. Go to Canada to get some of that disgraceful socialist healthcare.
Make a lot of noise and squawk as loud as you can, Senator. You're going to have to really push hard on this to get the mainstream media to let you rally national support.
And when the going gets tough, just repeat to yourself Ron DeSantis' slogan: Never Back Down! Show'em where you stand!

(1,347 posts)they should introduce cuts to Congressional salaries. Clearly there is too much spent on Congress and we need to reign in that out of control spending. Definitely should introduce more work requirements, they have faaaar too much vacation and other time off.
