Don't Look Now, But... (Biden is having a pretty effective presidency)

https://steady.substack.com/p/dont-look-now-but?utm_source=substack&utm_medium

DAN RATHER AND ELLIOT KIRSCHNER

'Am I getting this right? The same Republicans who spent years castigating President Biden as barely mentally competent now are complaining that he ate Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s lunch in this week’s debt ceiling negotiations? Might one even go so far as to say that “Dark Brandon” understands the “art of the deal” a lot more than the man who preceded him?...

A lot can still go wrong before the next election. The duration between now and November 2024 represents several eternities in politics. If Biden were to lose, his entire legacy would be rewritten. But as of right now, he has shown an ability to regularly play the hands he’s dealt with cunning and skill.

Don’t take his word for it. Just listen to how much the Republicans are complaining.'

Still have to finish this crisis, of course, and then on to passing a budget with the amount of power the people gave them. Damned good thing for America they're smarter and more competent.

Got more done than Reagan, both Bushes, Clinton, and Trump combined.

The American Rescue plan would have been the crowning achievement for most 8 year administrations.

The bipartisan infrastructure deal would have been the crowning achievement for most 8 year administrations.

The Inflation Reduction Act would have been the crowning achievement for most 8 year administrations.

The CHIPS bill would have been the biggest thing a lot of Presidents got done.

The health care for vets for burnpit exposure was one of the most significant pieces of veteran's legislation in decades.

Those 5 things together in 2-1/2 years is absolutely staggering, but they aren't the end. Biden got the country vaccinated which allowed us to end Covid as an emergency. Biden has helped Ukraine defend themselvbes against Russia and in the process he's expanded NATO. And he's done it while defending all these achievements against Republican efforts to destroy them while leading his party to one of the most successful mid term elections in 100 years. He's also strengthened Obama Care, gotten some modest gun control legislation passed, and now defended his accomplishments while getting the debt limit increased.

I don't think any president since FDR can compare to what Joe has done.
