General Discussion

I don't care for Elon Musk. But the twitter that I see has not changed much since he took over.
First, twitter users are all over the world. Twitter posters include foreign presidents and news services. It is by far the easiest way I know of to stay tuned to world headlines.
Secondly, its not all about politics. There are wonderful accounts about history, IT, art, humor, pets, travel, music, hobbies, etc.
Third, you can follow/unfollow whomever you want, whenever you want. I don't see what you are seeing, and you don't see what I am seeing. It is a private experience. So I don't see the right-wing takeover. I occasionally post a crazy right wing post - but its always because someone on the left has drawn attention to it.
Fourth, it is non-intrusive. It's not Facebook. It doesn't want to know who I associate with, where I go, or my shopping habits.
So I don't get all the complaining.

(9,998 posts)My Twitter isn't right wing either. I block those people, or laugh at them. There are lots of us on there still, plus the best account, which is @LeviFetterman and is hilarious. Also news that isn't reich-wing, humor, history, sports (I follow a lot of women's basketball there). I used to be there every day but I probably check it every other day now.

(2,966 posts)I wish there were not evil white wingers in this world/country, but don't feel right about trying to stop them from posting on a site like Twitter. It's easy to block people or just move on. Obviously, it's fine to exclude them on sites like DU.
