Someone backed into a neighbors driveway and ended up with a gun pointed at their head. The reality of no gun laws and letting everyone lock and load.

(3,943 posts)Apparently the idiot thought it was his neighbor (whom he'd had disputes with). Instead it was a 60 year old visitor. It just demonstrates why guns are a problem when you let everyone have one.

(13,104 posts)Someone is promoting this behavior. I see one Fox Newz link on the story. Pretty sure theyre part of the recent escalation.
What are they so scared of?

(4,391 posts)I've had a few people brandish weapons around me over the years. Videorecording usually gets them to stand down really quickly.
I think they're scared of black people, and everything else is derivative like a kid who has a temper tantrum and forgets why he was crying in the first place.

(13,104 posts)of being in a driveway or ringing a doorbell and getting shot or having a weapon pointed is new and recent.

(4,391 posts)I mean, it's a button for people to push to notify the inhabitant that there's someone at the door.
But what do I know, an armed society is a polite society, right?

(3,943 posts)I had CCW permits in AZ and SC when I lived there. I didnt carry though unless I was going to our hospitals in rough neighborhoods (Phoenix and Columbia). I wasnt carrying on me but I had a gun in the car. Otherwise, I lived in the suburbs and didnt carry. It was pretty safe and I stayed observant. Dont into high crime areas and you reduce the odds of being a victim.
Here in CA I didnt even apply for one. With a history of PTSD and being hospitalized at the VA multiple times I wouldnt get approved. I have one 9mm at home (in a safe) but otherwise I took my shotgun and the other guns I inherited to a dealer to sell. In SC I had real concerns about safety as I was semi-rural and officers were always 20 minutes away. Here they are super responsive and Im in a gated community.
The reality is I have nothing that is worth dying for. Its insured so take it. While there are certainly sociopath criminals who will shoot you for no reason, most criminals are cowards, its why they have guns. Give the losers the stuff and theyll leave.

I hope you were fulfilled by the clicks and likes you got though.

(7,410 posts)And the new laws that take affect in July wouldnt even apply in this case since its always been legal to carry a gun either openly or concealed on ones own property (which is allowed by the law in almost every state).
