https://www.huffpost.com/entry/ron-desantis-floridians-losing-medicaid-coverage_n_647a5010e4b045ce2488aa46Floridas Ron DeSantis is now officially a candidate for president, and so far his campaign is going about as expected.
The Republican governor has decried the malignant ideology of the left and the woke mob, and hes promised to make the rest of America more like his free state of Florida. He has suggested that Disney is trying to brainwash America, and hes gone after former President Donald Trump too, albeit indirectly, by urging Republicans to dispense with a culture of losing during an appearance in New Hampshire.
These are the subjects DeSantis wants to discuss and, quite possibly, the ones that matter most to Republican primary voters. But theres another topic in the news that could use some attention.
Over the past few weeks, roughly a quarter-million Floridians have lost health insurance coverage through Medicaid. And thats just the beginning. In the coming months, even more Medicaid beneficiaries in Florida could lose their coverage as well ― with many, and quite possibly most, ending up uninsured altogether.

(9,981 posts)Lot of floatsam and bottom feeders wash up here, on account of the "first at the trough" primary. The Bossie family, Scott Brown, Cory Lewandowski, and a herd of Republican hobbyists? We got em, Don Bolduc got way too many votes!
Up here, 2 things will hang him First #1, He sued Disney!!!! What is he, crazy, or stupid? Second and gainin', the National Sales Tax bill he backed, to replace the income tax.
NH is a sales tax haven - border shopping is a major employer here.

(2,514 posts)On May 11th which ended all the COVID care. We were told at work that we had to run people's insurance again, and if they lost it we had to reapply. I'm assuming that's what is going on in Florida to. It's a mess but getting better.

(21,562 posts)Thanks for the article. Someone mentioned this on DU yesterday but there was no context to the tweet they posted. Now I understand.
250000 purged in a few weeks? We all know the state doesnt have the resources to vet that many cases in a few weeks. Id love to see demographics. I bet they are just wholesale cancelling everyone in Blue parts of the state where they think they are all black and ignoring all the Red areas. Lets see the demographics!!!
