so if trump is charged with a significant federal crime

like espionage or the like, how is it even fathomable for him to keep campaigning?

The GOP candidate would be a guy that could be thrown in jail any moment? Yet, they will go for it ?

If Trump is charged this week, do we get to a trial before november 2024 ? If not, does it go away unless Trump fails in his attempt to be reelected?

Also, if he is indicted and waiting for a trial before the election, would not restrictions be placed on him regarding traveling and so on? How is that working ?

It is mind-blowing that we reached a situation in this country where the candidate of a major party is running for president while indicted.

A 50/50 chance that if they actually charge him with something that has mandatory time attached to it, he might have a fatal meltdown shortly thereafter.

Almost immediately. In all caps, whining that none of the other presidents got charged for anything. A long "why me?" whiny rant.

These are the qualifications to be president of the United States.

These are the ONLY qualifications to be president of the United States:

"No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States."

It's not even clear if the 14th Amendment rebellion clause applies.

Eugene V. Debs, a socialist, ran for president while in prison and got 3.4% of the national vote.

when Trump takes control of the Justice Dept.

It's clearly becoming a requirement for Biden to win if we want Trump brought to justice. It may come down to being the main issue in the campaign.

If he wins the Repuke nomination (it's a possibility) then he can grift for another few months.

After the general election November 2024, he's dead meat. Chump can't win another presidency unless he gets all the Repuke votes, most of the independents, and even a few Dems. That's NEVER EVER going to happen. He can't stage a coup either because the military, the intelligence community, and the Joint Chiefs hate him. They'd never allow a coup take place.

Joe Biden wins his 2nd term in a walk. Chump is done and on his way to prison. We can take it to the bank.

But we live in a world where employees at Target stores are getting death threats because the store was selling t-shirts with rainbows on them. I really don't know where this is all headed.

As long as there are a bunch of candidates in the primary (again), he can get ~30% in the early states and just wait everyone out, just like he did last time.

If the GOP really wants to stop him, they need to get behind one candidate ASAP and then basically force everyone else out of the race.

GOP voters would still vote for him in the general, if he's the nominee. There's a big difference between not wanting him back in the White House and not voting for him. A lot of them disliked him the last two times he ran and still voted for him.

tells me the world has gone crazy. He IS their candidate even if he is in prison. He will run from prison. They will arrange to have a remote camera set up and a room that looks like the Oval Office to broadcast from. This is The Onion, Doonesbury, and 1984 all rolled into one.

Maybe not in the court of law sense, but if the former guy does anything other than dig his heels in should he be charged with a federal crime, he is admitting his guilt. And that is something he'll never do. After E. Jean Carroll nicked him for a $5 million judgment, he simply reiterated that he didn't know her, had never met her, and denied doing anything wrong. He had just lost the lawsuit and still said that.

So no, regardless of what happens to him in a criminal matter, he won't for a second concede anything. At this point, he can't.

He imagines he can fire the prosecutors or pardon himself.

So he's going to keep doubling down -- like he has done repeatedly in business.

His doubling down in business has resulted in 11 bankruptcies. In this case, however, he doesn't go bankrupt - he goes to jail. He will.

This will play out in predictable tRump fashion.....tRump will be the GOP nominee even being under indictments.....trial delay etc....he will burn down the GOP.....That said...all will be a a cluster muck and frenzied campaign as never seen before.....

I sense the heat will get too strong before the actual election November 2024...tRump will take a trip overseas and just not come back...No time for GOP to really select a viable replacement candidate as the tRumper Maga voters and any breathing republican will be in shock.....tRump on the ballot and no where in the USA..... Biden wins.

Quick synopsis for ya as my prediction....
