Rick Snyder to lead fundraising for Michigan House Republican's 2024 campaign
Former Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder, along with Kalamazoo businessman Bill Parfet will be leading House Republicans fundraising efforts as they attempt to win back their legislative majorities in the 2024 election, the caucus announced Monday.
House Minority Leader Matt Hall, R-Richland Township, said in a statement Snyder and Parfet were selected because they have created jobs and helped make our economy competitive.
They know that Michigan needs a House Republican majority to provide checks and balances and refocus our government on the issues that matter to Michigan families, Hall said. Now, these visionary leaders will use their talents and experience to help us share our record of results and common-sense, positive vision with the people.
So far this year there has been a slim difference in fundraising for House Democrats and Republicans, with both raising roughly $1.25 million. The party in the majority has long enjoyed a fundraising advantage in Lansing, but Republicans controlled the House for more than a decade and have long had a deeper bench of major donors than Democrats.
That the two caucuses fundraising is neck-and-neck marks a stark change from even just the 2020 election, when Republican regularly disclosed fundraising nearly double what Democrats had garnered. The Republican caucus had slightly more cash-on-hand at $1.35 million, compared to the Democrats $1.27 million, at the end of April.
