When LICHT was hired as the boss of CNN a year ago, all some of us Lefties heard at that time was that he was Stephen COLBERTs Executive Producer. Based on that, we exulted, assuming he would hold the neutral journalistic line (objectivity is LIBERAL).
Then kinks dribbled out, that the new conglomerate owners of CNN are staffed with oligarch wingnut DONORS specifically one ZASLAV, who had hired LICHT with the mission of turning CNN away from perceived Lib slant and supposedly make it a playground for ALL ideological guests meaning MORE WINGNUTS. And LICHTs first speech to all CNN was that he wanted neutral journalism, no ideological confrontation. He went to the Capitol building and told Repuke congresscritters he wanted them to feel comfortable and unthreatened, asking them to start appearing on CNN instead of just on the Faux Propaganda Network. He proceeded to cancel Reliable Sources and fired its inoffensive host Brian STELTER, and followed this up with moving rowdy Lib Don LEMON (17 years at CNN) from night rowdiness to morning chipper chit chat with two co-hosts, soon thereafter firing him, like setting up to fail.
But MORE dribble: Turns out that working for Lib COLBERT was not his first rodeo, that among other gigs a main one was as producer for wait for it: Joe SCARBOROUGH, back when SCABS was a full out raging wingnut, until SCABS and Mika Mouse fell "in love whatever love is", abandoning the Drumpf party and marrying her. This was at MSNBC when the boss was a wimp, and LICHT would go bully the wimp on SCABSs orders (source: Keith), demanding that the wimp cancel Lib guests from the other MSNBC shows with the threat that SCABS would call in sick if not complied with.

The kicker was last month when he greenlighted a town hall (sic) for Drumpf, with an audience of ALL MAGATs cheering Drumpf on for all the lies he spewed, the rationale being that Drumpf is a candidate and should be given space like any other candidate. Giving Drumpf a plum spotlight (a RALLY, not a town hall) after being indicted and having been barred from multiple platforms. Yet master ZASLAV said last week that LICHT had his full confidence and needed time to turn CNN around. The staffs perception was that LICHT was carrying out ZASLAVs agenda to turn CNN *NOT* towards neutral journalism, but rather turning it into Fox Lite for ratings (besides the ideology).
So this morning, the news is that LICHT is out. But ZASLAV is still the over-boss (oligarch, wingnut donor). Things IS lookinup, can INDICTMENT(s) be far behind? As the younger Libs would say about LICHTs pic, He has a PUNCHABLE face. Here he is in his now GONE power pose:

Why would he be kept on or need an underling. When, what link?

The news TODAY follows below. While it doesn't say that he was specifically walked out by Security with his box of things, it doesn't say that he will continue in any way. Will just say here that having to go back and find and edit quotes to back up what was known TODAY was a time consuming detour.

In his place, a team of three executives will run CNNs editorial operations for an interim period: Amy Entelis, a longtime CNN executive who worked with Zucker and helps manage talent relations; Virginia Moseley, recently named to oversee editorial operations; and Eric Sherling, recently appointed head of U.S. programming. David Leavy, a longtime Zaslav lieutenant who was named chief operating officer at CNN last week, will oversee business activities. Kris Coratti Kelly, who was named to oversee CNNs communications in July, is leaving, according to two people familiar with the matter.
How long the trio is in place remains uncertain. Zaslav told staffers he was in no rush to name a new chief executive at CNN. ... ....
