I believe the courage of this woman to lay out everything she knows has been pivotal as we inch toward justice.

(23,336 posts)And the best proof of that that I've seen personally, came from two Repugs themselves.
The week she testified, I remember overhearing two constipated old RW church ladies bad-mouth her in the grocery store - about how "She's only 25 - what does she know! She's obviously doing it to favor her career!"
And I smiled to myself and thought: "Cassidy, old girl: You've struck a nerve. Good on you."

(36,594 posts)I wonder what was going through her mind all the times while it was all happening. Clearly they all knew he was a psycho.

(23,336 posts)I suppose that, while she was in the thick of it, it must've taken her awhile to steel herself.
I can imagine she must've thought to herself, at some point, "I now think I know how well-meaning (but powerless) junior officials in dictatorships must feel."
What a horrible dilemma.

Why do people say, 'Grow some balls'? Balls are weak and sensitive. If you really wanna get tough, grow a vagina. Those things really take a pounding!
Yes! Thank you Betty White!

(82,849 posts)Somewhere along the line, she realized that she was in a very bad position, and had to hire her own attorney. Whether that's courageous or simply waking up to the perilous situation she was being put in and who put her there, it worked out very well for the country.

Since shes seen the rank corruption of the Republicans and Trump, one would think that such an intelligent and honest person would reconsider their political alignment.
Oh, well
we can do it
(13,024 posts)Dont forget that fact. She didnt come forward when things were going down. Or soon after. When she found herself in peril.

I hear the great sage Yogi Berra whispering in my ear: "It ain't over 'til its over...."
When I see IQ45 walking into another court room with the attending guards letting the door smack him in the face - and see him sitting at a table before a judge with his red tie between his legs - THAT is when I will finally be able to take a deep breath and say: 'FUCK YOU, DONNY - YOU'RE GOING DOWN!'

Yep, who knew she had it in her to help make those "simple gifts" ...turning, turning till we come around right! Even if it's taking forever!

(476 posts)I thought it was Eliot Richardson's actions that influenced her decision, but it was actually Alexander Butterfield's, who told about Nixon's secret recording system. She wanted to hear about someone's thoughts who was in a similar situation.
Good choice, Cassidy!
