(8,759 posts)At some point he argued that everything was fine because the statute said government records and documents, not copies. So he was saying, well if it's a copy we are good. That is a big stretch.
The content is what matters--not the condition of the print. He probably knows that and is trying to distract. Prosecutors wouldn't bother with the case if his claim was valid.
I doubt all the folders and cover sheets with borders, etc., are copies:

(12,062 posts)The red border on the originals goes to the edge of the paper. Copy machines don't copy the full page to the edges - thus the white borders on the edge.

Regardless, it doesn't matter - it's the information itself that is classified. Plus making the copies themselves is probably another crime.

If the arguments Parlatore was making are the same ones Trump's lawyers intend to make in court, they are going to be destroyed.

I think he left to speak on behalf of Donald Trump's defense.
He was saying it was normal for a former president to have two years to examine files and documents. Also, Trump was not given enough time after the subpoena to find all the documents? (Of course, the FBI found 100's of documents in just a matter of hours)
He did not know what was in Trump's desk, although he said he had listened to the tape from Bedminster. Also, he said all the documents were "copies". (Isn't it illegal to copy classified documents?)
He was a slick lawyer sent out to speak for Trump, in my opinion. I don't know why he wanted to mention Epshteyn by name?
