Thoughts & Prayers

"Positive thoughts and prayer have been the best means available, since the beginning of time, to transform darkness to light." -- Cat Stevens

I'm thinking the republican party has come to a crossroads: one direction offers the opportunity to nominate the defendent as their 2024 presidential candidate, and losing elections up and down the ballot, the other to nominate someone else, insuring that Democrats win contests up and down the ballot. Let us pray they have the wisdom to chose correctly.

It will be a difficult decision for the republicans to make. Yesterday's federal indictments of the defendent will surely create a small, mushroom-shaped lump rise in his popularity among the republican base. Yet this will disappear as quickly as the defendent's premature ejaculation while spankking Stormy Daniels.

The republican leaders know that if they do not follow the passions of the maga cult, the party will be split. Yet if they do, the party will be split. If, on the other hand, they opt to get behind, say, Chris Christie in the buffet of other republican candidates, their candidates stand little to no chance of being seated at the winners' table.

These are my thoughts this morning. I've been trying to identify a proper prayer for them, but all I can come up with is that I hope the freeze-dried ghost of Pat Robertson appears to republicans in their dreams, and says that "God" had nothing to do with their current situation, that it is a crisis of their own making.

Faithfuly yours,

some of their party leadership thought they could adopt the tea party, and exploit them for their votes. Surprise, surprise.

I love this for them.

Right now unless Mitt Romney decides to run they don't have a viable candidate.

We must pray for them, just as they have always prayed for their hundreds of shooting victims. Turn about is fair play.

why a lot the people I once got along pretty well with think that the elites in power have betrayed and abandoned them. I remember a time when attempting to resolve poverty was in style in this country. And when the middle class was in a pretty secure position. But they are blaming the wrong people ...... how in the hell can they think that the defendent gives a shit about them?

it's because they WANT to believe it. They NEED to believe it. Whether it is true or not (and we know it isn't) they CHOOSE to believe it.

They made a choice long ago to believe lies no matter how much those lies defy logic. Trump might have snowed them in the beginning but the truth has been out there for years now and they are choosing to believe lies instead.

You're right -- leadership in this country used to care about lifting people out of poverty. I think most democrats still do. But the GOP abandoned that ideal when Regan was president. They are determined to keep a large segment of the population poor and unable to fight back while they steal from them.

And they are too cowardly to speak out honestly about "the problem." I doubt that I have anything else I agree with Liz Cheney about, but I respect that she understood there are some things much more important than a comfortable position in government. Like her oath to uphold the Constitution.

I remember reading Bandy Lee and her opinion that trump WANTS to get caught. He wants someone to stop him. His accusations are always confessions.

I know trump isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer but Jesus nobody is this fucking stupid. I think he wanted to get caught.

I didn't read the whole 49 page document but I read enough. There is no way he could have thought he wouldn't get caught especially when he received the subpoena. He would have known they knew what he had. He actually suggested to lawyers that they just claim they had no documents at all.

Then he played around with the documents in such a ham handed manner that he was bound to get caught doing it. He can't possibly have been stupid enough to think DOJ would never take action.

What do you think? Is his mental illness so severe that reality never entered into his decision process with this documents issue?
