just wondering.
i was married to the tv all evening and on the 20th round of lawrence (yeah, i'm exaggerating) i finally turned off the sound and read the 49 pages.
just wondering if anyone else managed to tear themselves away from the "breaking news" to read it.
or maybe people didn't feel the need after so much talkie talk on the subject.
naw... that won't happen
i'm betting du is gonna read it.

(10,922 posts)Got to say there were parts I found myself chuckling as I read it, its so stupid. It all seems absurd that an American President would do these things, and for what? But he did it. Like he forged a chain for himself with all these boxes, carrying them from room to room, lying about them to the Feds, carrying some of it on trips, bragging to visitors about having it.
I think it shows he has serious hardening of his arteries. Hes lost it. His best defense may be mental illness.
Hard to tell how many of our foreign adversaries got their hands on it.
orleans
(36,913 posts)made me think of a squirrel hiding, stashing nuts
shuffling them around, going thru those boxes, taking some with him when he goes north for the summer
i don't understand why they didn't look at bedminster too
GoodRaisin
(10,922 posts)more sweep for documents there too, since the indictment included him showing documents to others while he was there.
Reading the indictment it really jumps out how bizarre it is. Your squirrel analogy fits.

(270 posts)Interesting some of the slightly different takes pundits have to what I thought.
For instance, the spilled box of documents - nobody is speculating why or who spilled it. Just so much unknown about who was able to get a look/pic of any of these docs since theyve been at maralardo

Though the presence of the edge of the top secret document showing pretty prominently suggests it just fell over. I'd assume a bad actor would have taken that.
ExWhoDoesntCare
(4,741 posts)It looks like a box some agent was digging through. The documents laid out are evidentiary, and the "spilled" box is simply there because an agent had to get out of the way for the crime scene photographer to get in some snaps.
Happens quite often with crime scene searches.

It does seem this will stick with people's opinion

(12,240 posts)I'm so angry that there are so many fellow citizens who elected him and think this is okay or didn't think something like this would happen. They don't care that, by proxy, they helped endanger our security and the people in our security services.
It's a big circle-jerk of nefarious Americans and Trump is their manifestation of that.

(171,704 posts)"Happy Memorial Day"
it is entirely inappropriate
there's nothing wrong with having fun on a three day weekend, that is what freedom is all about ....but the OCCASION is a solemn one and NO ONE should forget the sacrifices made....
Grown2Hate
(2,216 posts)That stuck out to me in the reading like a sore thumb.
Definitely inappropriate, but simultaneously SO on brand for this fucked up family that wouldn't recognize sacrifice if it bit them on the genitalia.

(77 posts)I just find it jaw-dropping that documents relating to the highest levels of national security could have been in boxes on a stage in a ballroom, presumably where hundreds of people passed through daily.

(8,818 posts)The first thing that struck me was, man, that's a LOT of writing people had to do.
The second thing is, man, this was REALLY well done and well researched.
The third thing is, MFer had better be found guilty.

(10,635 posts)Unlike the Jan 6 congressional summation, which ran to 800pp I think.
And it's simple. Obstruction of Justice by hiding "Trump boxes" before they could be searched for missing classified docs.
Everyone should read it, especially Republicans. I think it took me about 20 minutes.

(7,046 posts)about halfway through. All I can say is wow. How bad is it that enough Americans voted for this guy to elect him President?
allegorical oracle
(6,480 posts)Attorney 1, so he believes, presumably, that he's reviewed all the boxes for classified items that must be turned over to the FBI and NARA. But he didn't, again, presumably. That resulted in Atty 3, at atty 1's request, falsely certifying that the documents had been properly identified and surrendered.
That's unmitigated proof that djt willfully broke the law(s).

(24,392 posts)A sampler:
"Intelligence briefing related to foreign countries"
"Military capabilities of a foreign country"
"Concerning communications with the leader of a foreign country"
"Concerning military capabilities of a foreign country and the United States"
The indictment makes clear:
Top Secret -- ...exceptionally grave damage to national security...
Secret -- ...serious damage...
Classsified -- ...damage...
Take-away after reading: Trump is a traitor.
liberal_mama
(1,495 posts)with the book. I saw some of the details on the news and I really don't need to read the indictment to know how depraved Trump is. But it might be entertaining reading.
