for the next year. Don't go to any tournaments including the majors. Tank the TV ratings I think this is one of the few times that the fans could affect this merger.

(131,231 posts)but I doubt many will because it's a rich person's sport where wealthy men who are too unfit to do anything else put on ugly pants and get together to make business deals. I'm all for turning all the golf courses into parks and let the richies take up pickleball but that won't happen.

But Im with Mark Twain: Golf is a good walk ruined.

(2,133 posts)especially basketball into my forties. Golf is nowhere as much fun to play as Basketball but what we should do as American's is not let the Saudi's wash their image.
BlackSkimmer
(51,308 posts)I saw this coming.
Even that one asshat golfer is telling people to get over it.
In America, lets not forget, money is king.
Casady1
(2,133 posts)is not to allow them to do this sportwashing. People are commenting about the game and not the sportswashing. What they are doing is commenting about themselves instead of the topic.
BlackSkimmer
(51,308 posts)Therefore, a boycott is irrelevant to those of us who never watch anyway.
None of us is surprised at rich asshats making themselves richer.
Perhaps your call to boycott would be better on a golf forum?
Let us know how that goes.

(41,098 posts)so a few mostly rich folks can recreate. Shut them down in drought ridden areas & build a couple of putt putt courses. I think putt putt is so much more fun than golf & you can play at night.

(131,231 posts)and herbicides, and they grow nothing but grass, which has shallow roots so it dies back in hot weather (requiring more water), doesn't produce flowers for pollinators, food, or shelter, and is basically useless. Turn them into parks, gardens and bird sanctuaries, let native plants grow, plant more trees, give food and shelter to the animals and birds and let the rich golfers play in Saudi Arabia. Golf courses are wastelands wherever they are.

(51,308 posts)I grew up playing tennis, but many of my friends were golfers.
I tried it several times with them, and literally felt like I was gritting my teeth at the utter inactivity of it.

(131,231 posts)one ought to learn golf because it enhanced your business opportunities, and I don't think I've ever been so bored. I dragged myself around in the hot sun for a couple of hours trying to figure out what the fucking point was supposed to be, told my friends they were welcome to torture themselves if that's how they wanted to suck up to clients, but I was outta there.

Ocelot II
(131,231 posts)or participate in, regardless of the reason? I already don't have anything to do with golf because it's boring, involves tiresome rich people, costs too much, and wastes land. I can't possibly boycott golf any more than I already do just because there's yet another reason now.
Casady1
(2,133 posts)if it doesn't pertain to you.
Ocelot II
(131,231 posts)Yes, we know golf ought to be boycotted on account of Saudi Arabia and 9/11, but if we've already been boycotting it by not participating for other reasons, wtf else are we supposed to do?
Casady1
(2,133 posts)think that many people are discussing the topic I presented. They are making a blanket statements about the game. This is about denying the Saudi's entrance into our country for the sole purpose of making them presentable to the vast public.
Ocelot II
(131,231 posts)so you wouldn't have to read about how many of us already think golf sucks and won't watch it anyhow.

your post to say The PGA and tournaments instead of Golf in general.
People playing at the local Muni course are not supporting the Saudis.
The fact that so many are responding about golf in general shows your point is not clear.
Or you can reply with the exact same post to everyone that replies.
Casady1
(2,133 posts)but if you read my post it is pretty clear. What many people wanted to do was make it about themselves.

(37,521 posts)And I agree, no PGA on TV for me this year.
But since so many are posting about golf in general, I thought you may reappraise your post.
Believe me, I have had the same thing on some of my post. One up right now about Biden and his age was misread by some.
