"SNIP.......
There are obviously more important things on Donald Trumps mind these days.
But its important not to overlook his claim made in Georgia over the weekend that he was responsible for raising oil prices.
Trump said he got onto a three-way call with Vladimir Putin and the king of Saudi Arabia perhaps meaning Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to urge them to cut oil production and drive up oil prices.
Said Trump: I had to save the oil companies. They were all going to go bust.
Its a bizarre thing to brag about during a presidential campaign, but Trump may be preoccupied with more pressing matters.

The only year ExxonMobil shows a negative net income was 2020, because of the pandemic, the response to which he screwed up.

(24,612 posts)which he didn't. When oil was trading at $10 a barrel would have been a good time. But he was golfing that week so.........

(5,520 posts)at the beginning of the pandemic when oil prices went below 0 because there was no place to store oil already on tankers. That would have been ideal. Actually supporting a market in freefall by buying a commodity which no one else could store, and at the best possible price. The Art of The Deal! Instead the US got "the business".

Remember the media breathlessly claiming gas prices would sink Biden's popularity and therefore totally screw the Dems in the 2022 elections?

We should have been using more agriculturally based fuels anyway. It was the greed of the oil companies that put us here. Screw them with a non-lubed pole (since they have their own lube anyway).
