Trump has a cult. That cult will likely not switch to another Trump-lite republican.

They need that base of ignorant hateful people (deplorables) to have a chance.

But I think that base only turns out for Trump.

OTOH, Trump has alienated so many other people (never trumpers, all of us Democrats, many independents, young voters, etc, etc) that Koch is correct, Trump can not win either.

In fact, almost whatever the Repukes do now, We win the Presidency, the Senate and the House.

And maybe for a long time to come.

I think if Trump is defeated in the primary... it'll be so dirty and you'll end up with MAGAts saying fuck this and staying at home.

So then you get the run of the mill GOP'ers who voted for Romney and McCain, aka around 55-60m voters. Big DEM win.

Best thing for GOP to do is allow Trump to lose in the general and come back in 28 with Trumplite.
