Was there a specific charge filed for improper storage of materials?

It seems that alone was easily proven.

And can we drop the ridiculous "alleged" when we're discussing things that have factual evidence, like photos and recordings? This isn't some Heisenberg Uncertainty.

It would have to be in the jurisdiction where the documents were stored onenote Jun 2023 #3

But the reason may be that a violation of 18 USC 1924 is subject to 5 year sentence while violations of 18 USC 793(3 ) are subject to a ten year sentence and Smith doesn't want to create a situation where a jury might decide to let Trump off the hook on the one offense by finding him guilty only of the lesser offense. (Speculation on my part, of course).

It means he can charge that count in another jurisdiction if Cannon torpedoes this one.
