Don't have all the classified documents returned from Trump and don't know where they are. So why isn't Trump brought in and interrogated? Why wasn't he detained after the indictments for this purpose if nothing else?

(4,741 posts)He's a pathological liar which makes an interrogation difficult, at best, but, more importantly, he can still retain lawyers who are just smart enough to shut down any interrogation. TFG plays tough in public, but I bet if he went in an interrogation room and a lawyer told him not to answer anything other than name, age, address, he'd shut up.
He's too much of a self-serving coward to go against his lawyers then.
The DOJ probably has at least tried to bring him in, only for lawyers to say--nope. He won't talk to you, so you have to talk to us.
Once criminals lawyer up, it's tough to get the perp to talk. Even a prattling numbskull like TFG shuts up when faced with possible jail time if he says the wrong thing.

(55,129 posts)I've said all along they don't know, have to tease some of it out from other information, and in some cases won't ever know.
They can't admit they don't know. That makes what's out there more desirable and more valuable, and the nation less secure.
Did you see Trump's boxes? What a filing system! Chaos. No one indexing the records. Trump doesn't entirely know what he's got. If he went to find them, he wouldn't know where to look.
That may be one reason IC is focused on relatively small and narrow evidence and charges. It's only necessary to have a great chance to convict. Don't need to open the investigation to every security problem this mess has created.

I'd like to see his ex-wife's coffin exhumed. She was cremated, so they aren't disturbing her bones, but excavating might expose skeletons that would finally put him away.
It is absolutely ridiculous that this criminal traitor is roaming free, leaving mayhem and destruction every day he's not arrested.

(5,131 posts)Snopes said theres no evidence that Ivana was cremated. I responded that there is no evidence that she wasnt.
TEN men struggled to carry her coffin which was buried in a temporary-looking grave in the same place where the Saudis held their fake golf tournament one week after, and then Jared gets $2B from the Saudis.
The whole thing stinks. I think she was pushed down the stairs. Two of Traitor Tots goons were seen leaving her building right after it happened.

(9,354 posts)But paper is heavy too. And the coffin itself is suspicious to me. My mother was cremated, nd she was buried in the same grave with my father in an urn about 5" x 5" x 9" I own a couple intended for me and my husband which are about 4" x 4" x 12" and I don't expect either to be exactly packed.

(3,953 posts)Surprise! Judge Cannon Isnt Running The Trump Documents Trial. Jack Smith Is
snip
I love it when a plan comes together. We havent even had the preliminary hearing yet, and already Special Counsel Jack Smith is showing that he has more courtroom strategic brains for breakfast than Judge Cannon and the entire Trump legal team have had since conception.
During Trumps arraignment on Tuesday, Judge Aileen Cannon was noticeably absent, which means that things went smoothly, but still started media conjecture with her status in the case. But then an event in the hearing occurred that took all of the attention off of Cannon, and put it firmly on Jack Smith instead.
snip
snip
But today Jack Smith pulled a move that I can only describe inspired. Smith sent a Protective Order to Judge Cannon, stating that the prosecution was now prepared to release all non classified material to the defense under the Rules of Discovery. Smith requested that Judge Cannon issue an order prohibiting the dissemination of any information in the files to the public by the defense. The stated reason for the order was the fact that there are still multiple active investigations under way, and premature disclosure could screw them up.
This is a master class in legal tactics. Normally the way it goes, the indictments are unsealed, and the arraignment is held within 48 hours. During the arraignment the judge names a date for the preliminary hearing. And at the preliminary hearing, the judge opens the discovery window. The judge asks the prosecution how much sh*t theyre dumping on the defense, and then the defense requests a time window to go through the documents. Trump is counting on expanding that window as much as possible to delay the trial.
Look, Smith isnt just running circles around Trumps defense team, hes running them around Judge Cannon too. Trumps defense team wants endless delays and hearings. Smith just deprived them of that oxygen by not giving them any reasons to ask foe hearings on Trumps bail conditions. And now, Judge Cannon hasnt even set the preliminary hearing date to open discovery, and Smith is already handing over all of his non classified material for the Trump team to go through. Which makes it harder for the Trump team, 6-8 weeks from now at the preliminary hearing, to ask for 4-6 months for discovery when theyve already 90% of the stuff for 6-8 weeks.

CIA admits to losing dozens of informants around the world: NYT
Leading counterintelligence officials issued a memo to all of the CIAs global stations saying that a concerning number of U.S. informants were being captured and executed.
The CIAs counterintelligence mission center investigated dozens of incidents in the last few years that involved killings, arrests or compromises of foreign informants. In an unusual move, the message sent via a top secret cable included the specific number of agents killed by other intelligence agencies, according to The New York Times.

(5,232 posts)but I wonder if they're looking into using technology to protect future documents. They could put a QR code on each page and have them be indexed at the CIA. They might also embed a tracker like AppleAir so they could track them down.
I understand it doesn't work if someone makes copies or takes photos.

That's why there was a jaw-dropping lack of meaningful restrictions by the prosecution proposed during the arraignment.
