but wouldn't the refusal to sign simply have resulted in refusal to enroll this toddler? This seems like the premise for a legal action of wrongful termination.

I googled her name and she is a professor at a different university now. She also wrote a book about fundamentalism.

Pedophiles get turned on by exactly those kinds of things. They are grooming parents, and by extension, kids, to be pedophiles. That is one reason the churches have so many of them!

please provide the research to justify corporal punishment, including long term affects. Please sign attached document, to the affect of, the institution and the spanker will be held liable for any physical damage to the child, both short and long term. Also, Corporal punishment is forbidden, unless it is recorded in video, and anyone involved is identified in the video.

IOW, consequences...

We have Christians in America who teach how to beat babies.

These must be some lovely people =

'Spare the rod, spoil the child.' A rod was a stick used by shepherds to guide their sheep to go in the desired direction. Shepherds did not use it to beat their sheep. The proper translation of the saying is 'Give your child guidance, or they will go astray.' It does not mean 'Beat the hell out of your child or he will become rotten' as many seem to believe.

and I have zero regrets.

When my kids were still in daycare (um, they're in grad school now, so it's been a few years ), there was a daycare center conveniently located on the 1st floor of the building that I worked in. I could go down there on my breaks/lunch and nurse my infant or see my toddler.

The oldest one was moved to the toddler room at one point. I think he was almost 2.5 years. The toddler room took naps on cots, all of them at the same time whether or not they wanted to. He apparently didn't want to that day. I walked in at the moment the worker smacked my kid. I was not a nice person in that moment.

I took the kids home for the day, and needless to say, the worker was no longer employed by the end of that day. Adults that hit kids should not work anywhere near kids. Hitting kids is a trigger for me. My mom hit me frequently; I didn't want that for my kids at all.

The scene alluded to in the article, about an older man demonstrating spanking on stage with someone’s young child, is the most disturbing thing I saw in the series.

And that’s saying something, because the whole bloody series is disturbing.

The man seemed gleeful in his demonstration. And not ‘gleeful’ as in ‘I get to show off my alleged wisdom to a crowd,’ either. It was more ‘I get to exert power over a small child and hit his buttocks.’ It was true depravity.

I tried to visualize Jesus Christ confronting this person, and all I could see was Jesus shaking his head sadly and walking away.

Turn away from beating a child? You do realize that among those people who will be tortured are children...right?

I said I could only see him turning away from the person who had done such a thing - and only because the depravity of his past deeds was so deep.

Moreover, I was expressing what I was able to visualize at the time, not what Jesus was likely to have actually done.
